PHILIP HERMAN ELIASSON
Dad is survived by his two loving daughters, Coreen (Joe) and Teresa (Chris), his special granddaughter Samantha (Alex) and stepgranddaughter Jamee, and stepgreat-grandson Nixyn. He also leaves to mourn, his two loving sisters, Linnea (Denny) and Lorraine (Dale), his brother-in-law Robert (Marilyn), many special nieces and nephews, close friends and his "Partner in Crime", Ralph (Evelyne). Phil was predeceased by his parents, mother and father-in-law, his beloved wife Donna and longtime friends, Dave and Frances Clarke.
Phil was born in Winnipeg, MB on November 14, 1942. He resided on St. Thomas Road in St. Vital for 75 of his 77 years of life. He married the love of his life Donna on February 16, 1963 and they spent 54 years of married life together.
Dad was a Self-Employed Printing Mechanic for many years as well as a self-taught designer and fabricator. He could build anything he set his mind to such as an in-home elevator built for his wife, a built in fridge, microwave and a powered frame that allowed the dishwasher to move in and out of the wall, all to accommodate a small kitchen.
Dad's many passions were first and foremost hunting. He shot his first buck at age 17 and in years following became Manitoba's Crane Hunter, having had his picture in the Winnipeg Free Press.
One of Dad's favourite places was at the cabin he and Mom built at Rock Lake in South Western, MB, where they enjoyed many years and is also where the family pet turtle Tiny was caught in 1984 until its recent passing, 35 years later. Dad enjoyed fishing and his everlasting quest of catching Walter. He also loved taking his granddaughter Samantha frog hunting and looking for wild turkeys at the lake.
Dad had a love for wildlife, whether it be looking through the scope of a rifle or in his recent years through the lense of a camera. Throughout his life he enjoyed camping, boating, snowmobiling, mini biking, quadding, yahtzee games, his yearly cribbage competitions with his sister Lorraine, playing cards with family and friends and his many visits up to Joe and Coreen's cabin at Grindstone, MB.
Dad truly enjoyed time spent with family, his summer visits with his sisters, and most recently his drives looking for wildlife with his daughters, his recent favourite place being Christie Road.
Dad, we will Forever Miss You and we will treasure our many memories. We Love You and we are at peace knowing you are reunited with Mom. We now have two Angels watching over us.
Rest In Peace Dad, Grandpa and "Papa Bear". Forever in our Hearts! xoxo

I am so sorry to read this. My heart goes out to you Teresa, and your family - your dad was a great man. Many years have passed since we've spoken, but the memories of your family and Rock Lake and Pelican Lake and St. Thomas Road are so vivid in my mind. As I look back to those years with a more mature mind - it is no wonder that this many years later I still consider him a great man. You were so blessed to have him as your father. I wish for you a flood of joy when you think of your dad. So many hugs to you and yours. - Posted by: Judith (Judy) (Teresa's Pal from Forever Ago) on: Jan 07, 2020

I remember Phil fondly as a warm and giving man. He was always entertaining to be around with his great stories of adventures in the outdoors and family fun. He could recite poetry at length and I will never forget how he could quote Robbie Burns from heart. Very animated and funny!
