GEORGE KUNTZ
He was predeceased by his parents, John and Anna and his son Derek, granddaughter Devon and siblings, Kay, John (Josie), Eddy (Fran), Peter (Rita), Helen (Herb) and Rose. He leaves to mourn his passing by his wife Dianne, his children, Danny (Irene), Darryl (Lil) and Gail, brother Bernie (Marion), his sisters-in-law, Rita and Fran and brother-in-law Herb and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, also left to mourn his passing are stepchildren, Cindy (Don), James (Diane and Jacob), Colin and Davin (Galina).
George worked at CPR from 1956 to 1986; he enjoyed the comradery of his co-workers. In younger years George played hockey in the North End and went on to play junior for the Winnipeg Black Hawks. He also had 18 years of coaching experience. George began his coaching career at Isaac Brock Community Club, then went on to coach for Kirkfield Park and Crestview community clubs. He was manager and scout for the St. James Canadians, he took a break, then he picked up coaching for the Fort Garry Monarchs Juveniles and later coaching for the North Stars Hockey club along with his son Danny as assistant coach and his brother Bernie handling promotions and advertising. George had many friends and was much loved.
Cremation has taken place and there will be a Celebration of Life at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 40000 Portage Avenue on Friday, January 3, 2020 at 2:00 p.m., interment and lunch to follow.
