GERALD ERIC RENNIE
July 27, 1936 - December 24, 2019
Gerald is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mae (Argle), his son Russ (Shelley), and daughter Jeanne; and grandchildren, Morgan and Alexander Rennie and Jessica and Elizabeth Lodge. Also survived by his brothers, Jack (Marge) and Ron (Jean).
Gerry was the first-born son of Warren and Edith (Miller). He spent his childhood in Pierson, MB and told many stories of odd jobs and adventures he shared with his brothers.
After finishing his schooling in Winnipeg, he started a career with the Royal Bank with stops in Rapid City, Roblin, Churchill, Winnipeg (where he met Mae), Roland, Brandon and Melita. Along the way they started a family and made more memories. Their next chapter saw them in Melita, running the Rennie Solo Store with Gerry, enjoying small town life and taking the kids to many sporting events. Semi-retirement took them back to Winnipeg as apartment block caretakers with Gerry working some security jobs. Here they saw their children marry and grandchildren arrive.
Dad loved sports - baseball, curling, hockey, and football to name a few. As a young man he was able to participate competitively, later in life it was as a spectator. He was a Jets fan and a Blue Bomber supporter and happy to see them finally bring home the Grey Cup. Dad was well read and able to speak about local and national news. He also enjoyed a challenging crossword puzzle. But his greatest joy came from his family.
He was a loving husband, a great dad, and a supportive grandfather. He set a good example by always trying to make the best of the challenges that life presented him. He will be missed.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place and a (family) graveside service will take place in the spring.
Thank you to all those who helped out with caring for Dad over the past few years.

To Jack and Marj, so sorry to learn of your loss of your brother. Loss of family members or friends any time is always so sad but a loss of this magnitude at a time like Christmas when family celebrations and Christmas joy are the norm seems to be exceptionally sad. Our sincere condolences to you and the entire Rennie family. Brian and Lucy Cobb, Regina, Sk. - Posted by: Brian Cobb (Retired Royal Bank) on: Jan 04, 2020
