REES HENRY (HANK) LLOYD
1942 – 2019

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Rees on Saturday, December 28, 2019, at the age of 77 years.
Rees is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Margaret (nee: Brett); sons, Ryan (Angie) and Lyon (Sandy); granddaughters, Katelyn, Alexis, and Natalie; sisters, Vern Sheppard and Pat (Lewis) Blake; brother John (Jackie) Wiens; brother-in-law Richard (Karen) Brett, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Rees is predeceased by his father Thomas Lloyd, mother Emma Wiens, stepfather John Wiens, and brother in-law CJ Sheppard.
Rees grew up in the community of McCreary, MB. In 1961, he moved to Dauphin, MB, where he worked for his uncle in the farming industry. He later moved to Winnipeg in 1964 to work in construction, and eventually found his niche in the drywall and taping trade, which is where he worked continuously up until his retirement in 2017. Rees met the love of his life, Margaret from Kenora, ON, and they were married in 1966.
Over the years there were many trips visiting family in McCreary, Dauphin, and Kenora. In 1986, Rees and Margaret built a cottage on Lake of the Woods, where they enjoyed many wonderful summers and created many memories of "lake life" with close family and friends. Rees worked hard all his life and instilled a strong work ethic in his two sons.
Rees was challenged by a cancer diagnosis in 1996, but after undergoing surgery, chemotherapy and radiation treatment, Rees beat the odds and became a cancer survivor.
What brought joy to Rees' life was gardening and spending time with family and friends. He especially treasured times spent with his three beautiful granddaughters.
A funeral service for Rees will be held on Tuesday, January 7 at 2:00 p.m., at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, with interment and reception to follow.
The family would like to thank the many doctors that helped to make his life more comfortable.
In lieu of flowers, and if friends so desire, donations can be made to any of the following charities: CancerCare Manitoba, Heart & Stroke Foundation, or the Lung Association of Manitoba.
The family would also like to thank all of those who gave Rees love and friendship throughout his life.
Rees will forever remain in our hearts as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, cousin and friend.
