MARILYN AUDREY GILES
(nee BEAMISH)
Marilyn was born on June 27, 1937 in Gainsborough, Saskatchewan. The youngest of five daughters, she grew up in a close and loving home. Marilyn spoke often of good times shared with her mom, dad and sisters, who she loved dearly. One of many special memories was accompanying her dad (and the horses) on his regular mail route. The family eventually moved to Brandon where Marilyn trained and worked as a nurse at Brandon General Hospital.
Brandon is also where Marilyn met and married Jack in 1960. For the next 49 years, the two of the them were inseparable as they raised their three children together in Winnipeg, with stops along the way in Ottawa, Lexington, Kentucky and Barbados. They were the two most important people in the world to one another. It is a great comfort knowing they are now together again.
Marilyn left nursing to raise a family but never lost her commitment to caring for others. Later in life, through the practice of therapeutic touch, she provided many with relief from pain and helped them to heal. Above all else, Marilyn was thoughtful, kind and selfless in everything she did.
Marilyn's last few years were difficult, but she faced them with the same courage, spirit and strength of character that were so evident throughout her life.
Marilyn was predeceased by husband Jack; parents, Wesley and Maude Beamish; infant sister Verna; sister Myrtle; and brothers-in-law, Stanley, David and Eugene. She is survived by her sisters, Moneta and Myrna; brother-in-law Allen; children, Dean (Krisandra), Derek (Tanya) and Dana; grandchildren, David, Daniel, Brody, Autumn, Megan and Lily; and great-granddaughter Aspen; along with many special nieces, nephews and in-laws.
A private family service will take place at a later date.
We love you so much and
will miss you Mom.
