BERNADETTE SEYMOUR
December 5, 1948 - January 3, 2020

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bernadette, loving sister, mother, daughter, grandmother and great-grandmother, who passed away peacefully at St. Boniface Hospital, surrounded by loved ones.
Bernadette was predeceased by her parents, David and Isabel Seymour; brother Max Arnott, and sister Gladys Redsky.
She leaves to mourn, her sons, Dale Countryman, Frankie and Joey Seymour; daughters, Angela Seymour, Kelly Birtwhistle (Dale) and Tiff Bilsky (Paul); grandchildren, James, Jake, Chloey and Red; and great-grandchild Aven.
Bernadette also leaves to mourn her sisters, Norah Warren (Mark) and Annette Frobb; brothers, Joe Seymour and Arthur Arnott, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Bernadette was born in Kenora, Ontario on December 5, 1948, where she spent much of her early life with the Lajeunesse family who were friends of her mother, Isabel. She then moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba where she raised her children and learned her lifetime art of creating First Nations beaded jewellery. Bernadette continued her education by obtaining her high school diploma and later her Bachelor of Nursing degree at the University of Manitoba. She spent her career caring for her patients at the St. Norbert Personal Care Home. Her loving and caring persona will live on in all those who knew and adored her.
Memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. at Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway.

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • I will always remember Bernice as one of the kindest people I have ever had the opportunity to meet. She took me in to her home when I first moved to the city over 30 years ago. She never made me feel unwelcome in her home and I so appreciate that to this day. My only regret is that I feel I have never thanked her enough for what she did. Thank you Bernice from the bottom of my heart. I love you. - Posted by: Jenny Boulette (Friend/Extended Aunt) on: Jan 11, 2020

  • You were always there when we needed you, No task too great or small, With a loving heart and a willing hand, For us you did them all. Many thanks for the years you gave us, And for all the times we shared, We only pray that when you left us, You knew how much we cared. In tears we saw you sinking, We watched you fade away, You suffered much in silence, You fought so hard to stay. You faced your task with courage, Your spirit did not bend, But still you kept on fighting, Until the very end. God saw you getting tired, When a cure was not to be, So He put His arms around you, And whispered, “Come to Me”. So when we saw you sleeping So peaceful, free from pain, We could not wish you back, To suffer that again. You didn’t deserve what you went through, So He took you home to rest, God’s garden must be beautiful, For He only takes the best. - Posted by: Frankie (Son) on: Jan 08, 2020
