EDWARD WALTER WIRTH

Edward Walter Wirth, loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on January 3, 2020, with his family by his side.
Forever to cherish Ed's memory are his son Kevin (Bonnie), his daughter Lori Cote (Robert); and grandchildren, Janessa, Jarrett, Darrian, Janelle and Shaylene. He will also be sadly missed by his brother Al (Bev); sisters, Alvina, Jean and Elaine; sister-in-law Barb and brother-in-law Jim, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Ed was predeceased by his wife Loretta, and his parents, Valentine and Mary.
Ed was born on June 23, 1941 in Neudorf, Saskatchewan and it was there that he met the love of his life Loretta. In 1965, Ed and Loretta got married and lived in Regina Saskatchewan for three more years before moving to Winnipeg, Manitoba to follow his career with Chrysler Canada. During his 40 plus years at Chrysler, dad met many people who became lifelong friends and whom he continued to meet up with at Johnny's Pizza for food, drinks and good times.
One of dad's hobbies was collecting antique tractors and cars and for numerous years he was part of the Rockland's antique club with his countless friends from the Stonewall / Teulon area. Many memories were made with the antique club when they went to numerous small towns throughout Manitoba where they rode their tractors in parades and displayed their vehicles. Another passion of dad's was his infamous pen collection which many family and friends contributed to as they travelled. Dad also loved the game of cribbage which he enjoyed playing with friends and family throughout the years but his greatest love was the weekly breakfasts he shared at Cora's restaurant with his grandchildren.

Dad we love you and will miss you
terribly but are comforted in knowing that
you have joined mom in God's kingdom.

The family would like to thank the amazing staff at Sturgeon Creek 1, the Grace Hospital and GH7 unit at Health Sciences Centre for the care they provided to dad over the past few months, as well as family and friends who have reached out with messages of support.
A celebration of Ed's life will take place on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue in Winnipeg.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Diabetes Canada, Immanuel Lutheran Church Building Fund or a charity close to your heart.
