RONALD ALBERT HAMEL
He was predeceased by his daughter Gayle Gulak. Ron is survived by his beloved wife Flo of 65 years; daughter Colleen and Ed Lane and family; son-in-law Glenn; grandchildren, Chelsey and Mickayla Gulak; sister Dorothy and Vic PreFontaine; brother Bob Hamel; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Walter, Bill, and Janine Frovich; cousins, Terry and Marlene Rooney; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Ron, beloved son of Albert and Della (Galloway) Hamel, was born on February 10, 1931. He married Florence on June 12, 1954 at Holy Cross Church. Ron joined the St. Boniface Fire Department in 1951. He retired from the Winnipeg Fire Department as Assistant Deputy Chief in 1992 after serving 40 years. He was thankful to be able to contribute to protecting the citizens of Winnipeg.
Throughout his life, he enjoyed family and friends at the lake, his winter home in Texas and his home in Norwood surrounded by good neighbours.
Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., January 20, 2020, at Desjardins Funeral Home, 357 DesMeurons St., Winnipeg, MB. Reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Firefighters Burn Fund.
