MARY FALK
1932 - 2020

The family of Mary Falk are deeply saddened to announce her passing on Thursday, January 23, 2020.
Mom was predeceased by her loving husband, Frank (2012), her parents, Jacob and Agatha Kroeker, one brother and one sister.
She leaves behind her children, Shona, Cameron and Michael, and many dear friends and extended family.
Mom is now finally free of her pain and we're sure she and Dad are holding hands and planning a road trip together with Snoopy and Deacon by their side. Mom has left us with many wonderful memories that we will treasure forever.
When she was young, Mom worked at the Co-Op store in Altona, where she met and married the love of her life, Frankie. Though Mom was a "domestic engineer" when we were young, after we were grown, she enjoyed working part time at Zellers, Albert's Drug Store and then full time at Brathwaite Drugs. She worked with people that were like family to her, as well as so many of the customers.
Mom always enjoyed cooking for family and friends, especially when she could make her chicken soup or perogies. Mom also enjoyed crocheting, knitting, camping, and travelling south for the winter. Car rides and ice cream were two of her very favourite things. Mom loved to spoil her granddog, Sweet Pea. He had the ability to make her smile any time he visited and begged for cookies.
The family wishes to thank all the staff at Calvary Place for the care and kindness Mom received. Thank you also to Rev. R. Campbell for your prayers and assistance at this difficult time.
Cremation has taken place and a private family service was held.

Mom, please give Daddy a big hug
and know that Cameron and I miss
and love you both. You will both be
forever in our hearts.

Condolences & Memories (9 entries)

  • Thinking of you all, Shona, Cam and Michael. Your mom was a very special lady to me. My days at Brathwaite's are memorable, because she was a big part of them. She was my Mama Mar-Bear, and I loved her dearly. She was always there for me. If I needed a hug, she knew it and if I needed a rude awakening, she would give me that too. She and Papa Frank will always have a special place in my heart. They are safe in each others arms again and I am sure that they are the life of the party again too. xoxo - Posted by: Sherri Skeoch (Friend/co-worker at Brathwaite's) on: Feb 01, 2020

  • Oh how I loved to tease the miserable old sot... I would always sneak up on her, give her that kiss on the cheek and tell her how much she missed me...I really think she did, I teased her, and she always had a smart comment to come back at me with. Mary, you were truly one of a kind and I miss seeing you and Shawna sitting in the private dining room enjoying your lunches that were so often brought in for you. It eases my mind knowing that you are giving all those in heaven a run for there money ...RIP my dear friend xoxo (that's for your cheek) - Posted by: Karen Jacques (HCA on rehab) on: Jan 31, 2020

  • A beautiful tribute to a beautiful lady. My favorite memories of visits to Winnipeg include Mary’s smile and laughter. The twinkle in her eyes lives on in all our hearts. - Posted by: Deb Kniebel (Friend) on: Jan 31, 2020

  • My deepest condolences to Shona, Cameron and Michael. I have so many fond memories of your Mom, my Aunty Mary. Carol, Sadie and I went to visit your mom on Friday January 24, 2020 - and to our shock, your mom had passed the day before. It was unfortunate that nobody from the family called to notify of Aunty Mary's passing. You can imagine how upset we were finding out from nursing home staff that your mother had passed away. Sadie, the only surviving sister of Mary was not mentioned in the obituary. I think she should have been mentioned. Mary and Frank are together now and I am sure they are having a great time. I will miss you Aunty Mary. Shelley - Posted by: Shelley Soltys (Niece) on: Jan 30, 2020

  • Aunty Mary was so nice to me as a little kid. I would often show up at the Falk home on Gibraltar Bay and there would always be a snack and a hug waiting for me. For many years beautifully iced sugar cookies were sent my way each Christmas. I remember camping trips to Detroit Lakes, one year I bought these tiny rice sized sticks that when you stuck them in the tip of a cigarette and someone lit one the tip would blow apart (it was the 1970’s everyone smoked) so of course being 10 years old I loaded all the adults cigs with this novelty. Everyone was upset but Aunty Mary she thought it was hilarious! Many years later Mary was close and very kind to my daughter when she was a toddler and that was very nice. Unfortunately we lost touch in the last ten to fifteen years and that is down to me. I regret that now, but always thought about her and will for the rest of my days. Great memories do last forever. I love you Aunty Mary. - Posted by: Dwight Iwan (Nephew) on: Jan 29, 2020

  • I will always remember Mary's sense of humour and her laugh. She was such a wonderful person to spend time with. Although I'm sad she's gone from this earth, I know she and Frank are together again, making each other laugh. - Posted by: Blair Friesen (Nephew) on: Jan 28, 2020

  • I am so sorry to hear of your moms passing. I have so many fond memories of both your mom and dad. It has been some time since I last saw them both - I believe it was at Pam P’s wedding. We had such a great time that night with lots of laughs. It was always exciting when your dad brought over a box of paper for us. My most favourite memory was when your mom invited the neighbourhood kids over for watermelon and fritters in the summer. I still have her fritter recipe and will always think of those days back on Gilbralter Bay fondly when I whip up a batch. Wishing you all peace for your hearts as you say goodbye. - Posted by: Carol Barton McKay (old neighbour) on: Jan 28, 2020
