MERLE BILAN
June 2, 1923 - January 26, 2020

It is with profound sadness that we say goodbye to a remarkable woman.
She was predeceased by her husband Al Bilan, three sisters and six brothers.
She is survived by her son James (Karen); niece Brenda (Ralph), their children, Marisa (Justin) and Severin, and many other nieces and nephews.
Merle was a caregiver throughout her life. Her heart was open and loving to all. She was an amazing cook and always had room at her table and in her heart for everyone. She was well known for her sense of style and her sense of humour.
The family would like to thank Tuxedo Villa for their loving and compassionate care of Mom. There is no better place to put your trust in the care of a loved one. To all the nurses and caregivers of Ward 2, a heartfelt thank you is not enough.
A gathering will take place on Saturday, February 1, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. in Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St.

Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • So sorry for your loss. James you might remember be from Carlton Street, we lived across the street, it's been a very long time but I remember how kind and welcoming you Mom was. My sincere condolences. - Posted by: Mark (friend) on: Jan 30, 2020

  • We met Merle about 12 years ago for the first time. I had heard so much about our good friend's mom(James) and mother- in-law (Karen) and was amazed when we met her. The wit, the intelligence and just plain goodness of this woman was truly amazing. We loved that she always had a big smile when we came to visit and she would say that she really liked my hubby, Derric. She truly always astonished me with how she handled the situations at hand, whether good or bad. She had lived alone for a long time but was one of the strongest and independant people I have ever known. She raised a wonderful son with similar personality traits and for that, we thank her. We will miss her wit and smile but will always remember her kind, almost mischievious demeanor that would always make us laugh. We were honoured to have know her and be invited to her past two birthday parties and know that she's now partying in her peace. We'll miss you Merle. We'll see you when we get off the train to join you one day. Bye for now Merle. - Posted by: Sandra Schoofs/Derric Boles (Friends) on: Jan 29, 2020
