MARGARET MARIE WRIGHT
(nee MCNEILLY)
April 3, 1929 - January 29, 2020
She is survived by her husband Edison; and their daughter Angela and husband Jimmie Lockhart of Fort Smith, NWT.
Margaret lived a full life. Born in Winnipeg, she had a very adventurous spirit. Margaret worked at Eaton's Catalogue and Mail department until seeing an advertisement at the movie theatre for the Air Force. Feeling called by a desire to serve her country, she enlisted. There she met her beloved husband Edison. Margaret served as a military police woman and administrative clerk until Angela was born.
The family lived and travelled all around Europe with the highlight being a family trip to the Isle of Capri at Easter. Their summer vacations included a tent or camper trailer and they could be found around the camp fire, with coffee in hand, reminiscing about the day's adventures.
Back at home, Margaret and Edison's weekends were filled with their love for square dancing. Margaret discovered her love for the Lord after going to Salvation Army meetings with her best friend Gracie. While attending Baptist churches with Edison, her faith grew and she flourished knowing that God never gave up on her and she chose to live her life for God. In the later years of life Margaret could be found memorizing scripture verses, mentoring young women and participating and teaching Bible study classes. She was also an active member of the Waverley Baptist Seniors Club. Margaret loved to knit and crochet and won first place ribbons at the Red River Exhibition for her projects.
Margaret's beautiful and infectious smile will be greatly missed by her family and friends, too many to mention.
The family would like to give special thanks to all those who extended their support and care to the family. The staff at Sterling House, nurses and doctors at St. Boniface Hospital ICU and Palliative Care units, Bonnie and the staff at Prime, her caregivers, Diane, Dan, Marie and Maryanne and our dear friend Maggie.
A funeral service will be held at Waverley Church, Winnipeg, at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Waverley Church Winnipeg, The Stroke Recovery Association of Manitoba or First Baptist Church, Hammonds Plains, Nova Scotia.
