GEORGE JOHN WIEBE

The family of George John Wiebe are heartbroken to announce that he has passed away, peacefully in his sleep, on February 7, 2020, after a short illness with lung cancer, at the St. Boniface Hospital.
George was born in Winkler, Manitoba. He was predeceased by his parents, Jacob and Nettie (Rempel) Wiebe, and siblings, Sadie, Irvin, Mary, Allan and Gordon.
He is survived by his wife Catherine (Dyck) Wiebe, and his children, Gina Sangster (Don) , Richard Wiebe (Lynn), Brian Wiebe (Wendy) and Barbara Wiebe (Bob), and siblings, Betty, Anne and Peter.
George is also survived by grandchildren, Noel Brodeur, Brianna, Bethany, Benjamin, Kaitlyn and Jared Wiebe, Matthew and Dylan Flatt, great-grandchild Aiden Flatt, and many nieces and nephews.
George worked at Sobey's for approximately 20 years and always put his family first. He enjoyed golfing, curling and fishing.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 14, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue with burial to follow. Lunch will follow at Bethel Mennonite Church, 465 Stafford Street.
The family would like to thank the staff at the St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care.
