ALAN KITCHIN STEVENSON
Dad leaves to cherish his memory, his son Ian (Donna Yellowlees), daughter Julie (Andy), seven grandchildren, Sarah (Brian Daly), Niel (Darlene), Deborah (Bill Richardson), Robert (partner Kim Mackey), Richard, Amy (partner Jonathon Gratton) and Lyndsey, as well as 10 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Dorothy in 1999, and came to Canada in 2001.
Dad was born August 17, 1921, in Widnes, England. He was a pupil of Wade Deacon Grammar School and joined the Royal Air Force in 1936 and served with them for 15 years. Dad was a keen athlete, a rugby player and an avid cyclist and dinghy sailor. He especially enjoyed our family cycling holidays, staying in Youth Hostels and touring all over the south of England. In his 19 years in Canada he lived 17 of them at the Portsmouth Retirement Residence where he thoroughly enjoyed the friendships he formed and the outstanding staff and management.
His body has been cremated and a graveside service will be held at St. James Cemetery this summer.
The family wish to express their deepest gratitude to the staff at the Portsmouth for their care and concern for Dad, especially in the past two years.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Alan's memory to the St. James Cemetery Board, 195 Collegiate Street or to a charity of your choice.

I worked at the Portsmouth, around the time Amy worked there, she trained me. Alan quickly became one of my favourite people in my section. He greeted me with in the most friendly way every shift I worked. What a life he must have had, 98 years. My condolences to his family during this difficult time of grief and sadness. Keep each other close. - Posted by: Sarah Goddard (Employee at the Portsmouth) on: Feb 15, 2020
