He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Wendy. Garnet will also be missed by brother Neil (Andrea Laird) Lyons of Idaho, and sister Patricia of Alberta.
He grew up in Winnipeg. Garnet graduated with a law degree and practiced his whole career of over 40 years in Winnipeg. He enjoyed volunteer work in the community and loved going to the cottage with his family and their Dalmatians. He loved the Winnipeg Blue Bombers forever.
Garnet was a wonderful and funny man, so say the friends that loved him.

So sorry to hear of Garnets passing. I know that will leave a huge hole in your heart. I enjoyed his sense of humor and remember the time you and Garnet went to Homes for the Holidays with me.He was so interested in how the homes were built and didnt care about the decorations! God will take care of him now. Take care. - Posted by: Margaret Warner (Friend) on: Feb 22, 2020

Things you may not know about Garner: When Garnet graduated from law school he and his cousin Frankie Dicosimo went out and got drunk and went joy riding around Winnipeg on Frankie’s Harley-Davidson. On the way to the beach one time, Garnet buried the needle on his 1962 Nash Ambassador at 120 mph down highway #6 with 12 year old brother Neil in the car. Garnet loved Nash automobiles. Not so crazy about Neil, I guess. Garnet could run really, really fast when he was young. Witnessed by a startled Neil and others in a touch football game in the back yard at the beach. Garnet at one time had some really great looking hand tailored Italian suits. I’m pretty sure that they were Iris’s idea though. I think she was the one with the good taste in clothes. Garnet loved a fountain pen over ball point pens for signing documents. He had the ink stains on his shirt pockets to prove it. This, however, did lead to the unfortunate use of a pocket protector. Once again proving it was Iris who knew what looked good and what didn’t. Garnet loved children, dogs and cats, even though he said he didn’t. One thing you do know is: Garnet will be missed by all who knew him. He was a wonderful guy and a great brother. I am sorry to hear of your dad's passing. He was a lot of fun. It was great to have him as part of our book club and to see him at meetings. He was always charming and engaging and he knew that an important part of any meeting is the food. - Posted by: Anne Johnston-Peters (friend) on: Feb 18, 2020
