Long-serving school teacher and pioneer in the field of Special Education in the Transcona-Springfield School Division.
Mother to Peggy, Charles, Ted and Kate, and grandmother to Olivia, Madelaine and Kate. She is survived by sister, Yvonne.
The family thanks caregiver Sandra and dear friends, Sylbert, Bev, Craig, Dwayne and Gwenith for their help and kindness over the years.
A memorial service will be held at Thomson "In The Park", 1291 McGillivray Blvd. on Friday, February 28 at 2:00 p.m.

Stara was an outstanding teacher and woman. We will always remember her laughter and kindness. And of course, she was the best roti maker ever. She even managed to teach my husband , Ed, how to do them. Never turned out as good as hers, of course. We will miss you , friend. Sing with the angels!
