Garry was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Nettie Valka.
He is survived by his two brothers, Larry and Edward and their families.
Garry was born in Winnipeg and attended Kinsmen and Argyle schools. He loved his time with his parents at their cottage in Winnipeg Beach and especially his DASCH Group Home in Winnipeg, sharing fun times with his different activities and time spent with his childhood buddy Ricky. My sincere condolences to Garry's friends and family. I met Garry almost 17 years ago when I worked at the DASCH day program. I'll always remember Garry coming to program Fridays dressed to impress (suit and all!) Ready to dance and sing at the weekly Sing A Long gathering. He was a sweet man, always eager to approach to say hello, or show you something of interest. His smile could light up any room. Rest in Peace Garry - Posted by: Michelle (Works at DASCH) on: Feb 24, 2020

My thoughts & prayers are with the family & friends of Garry at this time. Garry was in my Special Olympics bowling league at Mosienko Lanes. He was a very quiet person & enjoyed his bowling. May He rest in peace. - Posted by: Margaret Martin (Friend bowling coach) on: Feb 22, 2020
