TREVOR LYLE HUTCHINSON
May 5, 1950 - February 28, 2020
Trevor will be deeply missed by his wife Gisèle of 44 years; children, Andrea (Eric), Robert, Lindsay (Dan) Bouchard; his grandchildren, Madison, Gavin and Soren; his sister Linda (Ken) Stratton; father-in-law Yves Raymond; along with many other family members and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Herbert and Helen Hutchinson; infant brother Herbie; his auntie Mary; and his mother-in-law Lorraine Raymond.
Trevor was born on May 5, during the great flood of 1950 when many waters broke. He graduated from Charleswood Collegiate in 1969 and soon after, gained employment with the City of Winnipeg Water and Waste Department, where he worked until retirement.
Trevor and Gisèle met in the coffee shop La Grenouille where he met his Gigsy for coffee before work every morning. They were married in 1975. Together they raised two wonderful daughters. Wanting to build their own home, Trevor and Gisèle bought a parcel of land and built just West of Lorette. He would call that house his home for 23 years, enjoying making memories with his family and friends in the community of Lorette.
Coaching baseball for his girls' teams, attending every game he could when they played on school sports teams, he was there. Trevor was present in the moment, and he made every day count, modeling patience and kindness to his girls. His girls will remember him as the first man in their lives who cared for them more than anything. He will continue to be the best example of what a father should be. They also count their blessings as their own kids got to know Papa's gentle soul, no matter that it was for a much shorter amount of time than they had dreamed. Trevor was a true gentle man and a gentleman who lived his faith every day.
Trevor's love of the outdoors was obvious early on, from camping trips as a child, to taking his own family camping, to eventually building a cabin at Lee River. He always referred to the cabin as his happy place and as a little piece of heaven.
Trevor was a jack-of-all-trades and the best general contractor a daughter could ask for, especially as he accepted payments in the form of cherry tomatoes and peas from Lindsay's gardens and barbeque dinners from Andrea. Measuring twice and cutting once was passed down to him from his own dad, and if you needed a tool, Trevor had it. Not only did he have it, he could tell you exactly where it was, and show you how to use it. He was passionate about woodworking, and crafted meticulous projects from plans which will forever be treasured keepsakes.
Trevor shared a special relationship with his father-in-law Yves. They spent many hours together, tinkering on building and repair projects, woodworking projects, any project really.

Trevor and I were in the same grade from at least Grade 3 in Beaumont School through Grade 12 at CCI. We played on high school volleyball and basketball teams and I was in his class in Sunday School along with Alister Clark until 1968, where his Dad was the Sunday School Superintendent - another person I really liked. Trevor was the first kid I knew who rode a scooter to high school. We double dated for the Freshie Dance in Grade 12 when he dating Glenice Poole. One of Trevor's peculiarities is that when he would buy a Coke from the drink machine, he would shake it to get rid of the fizz. Trevor was one of the good guys and I was fortunate to know him back then. - Posted by: John Coy (Childhood friend) on: Jun 01, 2020

It was the year 2000 at the CCI school reunion. Trev along with a gathering of other 1969 alumni shared a dinner table. Trev was the same mild mannered, quick witted, jovial person I recalled from 1969. Just a great guy with a big heart taken way too soon. My most sincere condolences to the family, rest easy big guy. - Posted by: Cameron Jorundson (High school friend) on: Mar 07, 2020

Gisele, Andrea, Linsay and family: I was most saddened to learn of Trevor's passing. Trevor was a most capable and dedicated and reliable work colleague at the Water & Waste Department. More than that, he was a friend and someone who loved people and fun times. It was easy to laugh when you were around Trevor. He will truly be missed. My deepest sympathy on your loss. I was shocked and saddened to learn of Trevor's passing. I remember Trev as a dedicated member of CUPE Local 500, always there to help with strike arrangements, Foreman training, driving people to voting booths, It was CUPE's loss and City of Winnipeg's gain when Trev was promoted to management. My condolences to the family. - Posted by: Bob Malazdrewich (Friend abd Union collegue) on: Mar 07, 2020

Trevor was a respected civic employee and in his early career and active member of CUPE 500, serving as an Executive member of the Local's RTO Unit. In his later year's he was a widely respected member of the Water & Wasted Department's Supervisory ranks. Peter was a principled man and a good friend, my sincere condolences to Gisele and the entire family. Paul Moist - Posted by: Paul Moist (Friend) on: Mar 07, 2020
