(nee REID)
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our Mom, February 28, 2020, at the Misericordia Hospital. Our Mom was 86 years of age.
Mom was predeceased by her husband F.E. Stuart Browning, February 28, 2008; granddaughter Mercedes, 2004; daughter-in-law Elaine Browning (Michael), 2013.
Clara will be lovingly remembered by her three sons, Michael Browning and Trudy Wade, Ron and Joanne Browning, Mark Browning and Michele Comeau; grandchildren, Kolt Browning, Matthew Browning (Serenity), Greggory Browning and Garret Browning; as well her great-grandchildren, Liam and Owen Browning.
Mom is survived by her older sister Geraldine Walker (Jim).
Clara was born in Hamiota, Manitoba, on May 24, 1933. She lived on a farm half mile south of Isabella with her parents, Clarence and Lucy Reid, and her older sister Geraldine. In 1939 the family moved to Roland, Manitoba and from there to Winnipeg in 1941, where Clara finished high school.
Clara married Stuart Browning, on August 31, 1957, and had three sons, Michael, Ronald and Mark.
Clara took nurses training for six months which got her hooked in the medical field. She would go on to work and support several doctors as they built their practices. Mom really enjoyed the work and getting to know the doctors and their families.
Clara also was employed at many church organizations as a secretary/office administrator. Mom found this work fascinating as she got to meet so many people and this is where her kindness really showed.
Another passion of Mom's was volunteering at Siloam Mission. Here she would work many hours in the kitchen helping to prepare meals for all those in need. This she found very heartwarming as she could interact with those that came in and see firsthand the fruits of her labour.
Mom found the most joy in life getting involved in the lives of her sons and their families. She spent endless days at the farm growing huge gardens and always took pride in making massive meals to feed the family.
Some of Mom's greatest memories are when she and Dad would make arrangements to spend two weeks at Grand Beach. This would bring her lots of joy watching her sons swim in the lake and meet new friends. She would always make the trek up the pathway to the Grand Beach bakery to buy fresh bread and pastries which would be devoured in no time and off she'd go again to buy more.
Mom did everything that she could to make all the special occasions as memorable as possible. She would go all out for Christmas', birthdays, graduations and in time weddings, and then came the grandchildren.
Mom would be there at every milestone of her family's lives. She opened her home to many guests and treated them all with great kindness and heartwarming hospitality.
One of Mom's favourite Bible verses is Psalm 90:12, "So teach us to number our days, That we may gain a heart of wisdom" (NKJV).
Moms love and compassion for her family will be greatly missed, yet so very cherished by all who knew her.
We love you forever Mom ….

Stuart came to live in our home the year I was born; he came to work on our farm and eventually went off to Winnipeg to work and had the good sense to court and marry Clara , she became a good friend, I always loved to visit with her and did keep in touch, even though I have been living in Arizona the past 51 years. My condolences to all the family. Clara was wonderful person, a good friend. The best thing that ever happened to Stuart. Stuart was 16 when he came to the farm and wad like a big brother to me. I already miss hearing from Clara. - Posted by: EDITH BEATTY NEE WHITE (DAUGHTER OF FIRST COUSIN MAY BROWNING) on: Apr 23, 2020

I just heard today that my cousin, Clara had passed. We only met that one time but I felt an instant connection to my Canadian cousins, Clara and Gerry. Aunt Lucy visited West Virginia USA many times and it was always fun when she came. When aunt Lucy turned 90 we were invited to her birthday party. My mom, Annabelle Rhodes and I surprised her at the party. Clara and Gerry went out of their way to make us feel welcome. We had a great time meeting all the family. My sincere condolences to my dear family in Winnipeg, MN, Canada. - Posted by: JoAnn Jones-Green (Cousin) on: Apr 21, 2020

Ron & Mark, I am so sorry that you are suffering because of the death of your Mom. I didn't know her well. Only met her on a few occasions but remember her being a very busy & active woman. The last time I saw her she was with your Dad at Michael & Elaine's when her granddaughter, Mercedes died. Death is indeed an enemy. With sympathy, Gloria Hintikka - Posted by: gloria hintikka (friend) on: Mar 06, 2020

I met Clara (lol...when I first met her I thought her name was Gladys...it became a running joke with her and I) through her hairstylist Kevyn years and years ago...and grew fond of her very quickly. She would get her hair done by Kev every Friday, and I loved spending time talking to her. She was always arriving at our hair salon with a smile, and a book in hand. Her smile was infectious, her joy of reading was obvious, along with her knowledgeable banter with everyone around her. I always looked forward to Fridays, just to talk to her. She always took an interest in everything I did, and smiled at my stories about my life. She was intelligent, interesting, and full of love of life!!! I will miss this beautiful lady...my condolences to her family! ❤️ - Posted by: Michelle Mousseau (Friend through hair salon) on: Mar 05, 2020

My deepest condolences to Clara’s family. I worked with Clara in the early 90’s in a doctor’s office on Pembina Hwy. Clara was one of the loveliest and kindest people to work with. She was such a caring and hard working lady. May God wrap his loving arms around you and bring you comfort. - Posted by: Liz Cieszynski (Former co-worker) on: Mar 04, 2020
