JACOB BUHLER

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Jacob (Jake) Buhler on March 9, 2020, with the family at his side.
He leaves to mourn his loving wife, Joyce Marie Buhler (nee McIntyre) of 61 years; son Gregory Buhler and wife Caroline and grandsons, Braden Buhler and Brett Buhler; daughter Cheryl Ennis and son-in-law Doug Ennis and granddaughter Sydney Ennis; brothers, David Buhler and wife Marlene and family of Morris, MB, Henry Buhler and wife Louise and family, and George Buhler and wife Deborah and family; sister Tina and husband Allan Geisbrecht and family all of Altona, MB; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. His father, Henry Buhler and mother, Anna Buhler predeceased him.
Jake worked with the Province of Manitoba, Department of Natural Resources from 1957 to 1994 in the Interlake, Dauphin and Winnipeg regions. He then worked with the Cooks Creek Conservation District from 1994 to 2009 as District Manager.
Jake enjoyed his work with the Department of Natural Resources and the Conservation District. He enjoyed working with people that always made a difference in his life. He loved his work and spent countless hours at perfecting the region that was assigned to him. The employees of the region never worked for or under him, they worked with him and as such had input into the decisions made.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 19, 2020 at the Oakbank Baptist Church, 26033 Springfield Rd. 63N, Oakbank.
In keeping with Jacob's wishes, a private family interment will be held at a later date.
Jake spent many hours fishing at a number of locations in Manitoba, Ontario and Saskatchewan. He and Joyce would take off with the camper and boat sometimes for weeks at a time. He enjoyed the outdoors but his pride and joy were his grandchildren.
The family would like to thank and acknowledge the Doctor's and staff at Selkirk Hospital for their care and compassion.

  • Jake was so special to me. Not only was he a family friend, but he was my boss for a number of years at the Conservation District. I am so happy I got the chance to get to know Jake while working for him. He had such a special place in my heart. I’ll never forget him coming to my baby shower last May just to drop off a gift. It was the best part of my whole day, just to see him. Thinking of you and your amazing family, Joyce. So sorry for your loss.
