CHRISTINE BORKOWSKY
1925 - 2020

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our mom, grandma and great-grandma on Thursday, March 12, 2020, at the Beausejour Hospital.
Mom is survived by her daughters, Karen Borkowsky (Larrie Somerville), Valerie (Darrell) Dunning and Donna Borkowsky; grandchildren, Christopher Dunning, Jonathon Dunning, Colleen (Mark) MacIver, Mary Somerville and Rob (Kara) Somerville; great-grandkids, Alec, Mathew and Justin MacIver, Brett (Melissa) Trombo, Nola, Janie and Carter Trombo; her brother Gus Fiebelkorn; sister Agnes Worona; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her husband Alfred, son Gary, parents, William and Natalie Fiebelkorn, sisters, Lilly Borkowsky, Gladys Neurenberg, Merceda Schmidt; and brothers, Roy Fiebelkorn and Carl Fiebelkorn.
Mom was born and raised in Friedensfeld, MB until the age of nine when her family relocated to Glenfields, MB in 1934. Mom attended Rattray School and helped with the farm and taking care of her younger brothers and sisters.
In her early 20s Mom moved to Winnipeg and did day work cleaning houses and also worked in the kitchen at St. Boniface Hospital. She always shared fond memories of those times working and going to hall dances with her friends. After a few years Mom moved back to the farm to help her parents.
Mom and Dad married in 1950 and together they farmed for 44 years, eventually retiring in Beausejour in 2003.
Mom's greatest joys were her family, her faith, gardening and her flowers. She enjoyed watching the Blue Jays and was a big Jets fan.
The family would like to thank Dr. Tanner, and the nurses and support staff at the Beausejour Hospital for their kind and compassionate care.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 19, 2020, at Sobering Funeral Chapel, 1035 Park Avenue East, Beausejour with viewing one hour prior to the service. Pastor Tom Prachar will be officiating. Interment will follow in the Beausejour Town Cemetery. Pallbearers are Christopher Dunning, Jonathon Dunning, Colleen MacIver, Mark MacIver, Alec MacIver, Mathew MacIver, and honorary pallbearer Justin MacIver.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Grace Lutheran Church - Box 538, Beausejour, MB R0E 0C0.

  • I grew up in the Glenfields area and went to school at Rattray with Karen, Donna and Valerie. I am so sorry to hear of your loss. God be with you and comfort you at this time.
