KATHERINE ELIZABETH MARIE BODNER
Born July 15, 1956, to John and Cecile Laird, Kathy, to all who knew her, was a kind and caring individual who touched the lives of all who knew her.
Kathy was raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, along with three brothers and two sisters. She was the baby girl, adored by her siblings, growing up in a small family home.
Later she married Ron Bodner on June 24, 1978, and were blessed with a daughter, Jenine. She often joked one was enough when having her, when in reality Jenine was the joy of her world, spending hours reading books together, and watching Disney movies.
Her family moved to Baker Lake, Northwest Territories (now Nunavut), in the late 1980s, and where she found her forever home. Kathy began as a stay at home mom, but quickly grew a name for herself, becoming the community's cake decorator, baking hundreds of cakes for many special occasions. She was also a taxi driver, and then accounts payable and receivable clerk with BLCS, before ending her working career with Qulliq Energy Corporation.
Always a strict rule follower, but showed her wild side whenever she could, tearing up dance floors for hours on end, especially when a Bon Jovi song was rocking. She loved watching curling and Days of Our Lives.
Most of all Kathy was kind. She never complained and always looked on the bright side. Her famous quote was "oh well, that's okay", to which she truly applied to life.
She is predeceased by her parents, John and Cecile; brothers, Jim and Frank; and brother-in-law, Dennis.
She is survived by husband, Ron; daughter, Jenine (Guy); sisters, Liz (Dave), and Jacqui; brother, Steve (Gerri); and sister-in-law, Ina; as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to say a heartfelt thank you to all of Dr. Banerji's team at CancerCare, and Dr. Gabalawy's Rheumatology team, for the years of wonderful care. We are truly appreciative for all your efforts.
Due to recent concerns with travelling and group events, the memorial service on March 23, 2020, at Chapel Lawn is postponed. A service will be held at future date in her home of Baker Lake, Nunavut.
