DOREEN ELEANOR YOUNG
She was a loving mother to her children, Linda Scott and Larry Young; proud grandmother to Todd (Susan) Suggitt, Erin Scott and Trevor (Kelsey) Young; and adoring great-grandma to Tyson and Sam Eilers-Suggitt. She will be remembered by her sisters, Edna, Joyce and Marlyn.
She was predeceased by her husband, Allen (2017); and son-in-law, Barrie (2012).
Mom graduated as a registered nurse from the Winnipeg General Hospital class of 1951A. She always had a special bond with her classmates. Mom devoted her nursing career to the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She worked for many years at the Women's Pavilion and the Winnipeg Clinic.
Mom enjoyed travelling with her sisters, and with Dad. Maui was her favourite place. Mom and Dad moved to St. Vital in 1954, and made many friends and memories curling at the St. Vital Curling Club, and golfing at the Canoe Club and Southwood Golf and Country Club.
Mom did not want a funeral; there will be a private family interment, and a gathering of friends and family at a later date.
The family is grateful for the care and compassion shown by staff to Mom over the past few months, at both 4North at Victoria General Hospital and the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg.
Flowers are graciously and gratefully declined. Donations may be made to Victoria General Hospital, or the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg, or to a charity of your choice.
"How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard".
