Mr. Scarlett was my Grade 9 Gym Teacher. I will never forget the first day of Class, his "tough guy" demeanor with a lot of humor. I remember some of my classmates giving him attitude so he made them drop down and do some pushups. Me and him used to joke all class, and when I was having a really hard day he would always talk to me. We had a great relationship until I left West Kildonan Collegiate. He was full of so much love and you can tell, it radiated off of him. I am so saddened that he is gone, but I am thankful his suffering is gone. My mother has heart problems and an ICD and Pace Maker as well. I know the pain all to well. Mr. Scarlett you will live on forever through all the lives you touched and I know that it was 100s of lives. May you Rest in Paradise. My condolences go out to the family and loved ones during this time. - Posted by: Alicia Bell (Former Student ) on: Nov 20, 2020

One story I remember so clearly is when I taught the physed teachers the sign for poop. Mr. Scarlett copied it and all of us was bursting out with laughter and that moment I started loving gym because all of the gym teachers made me laugh especially Mr. Scarlett. I miss you my angel - Posted by: Hannah Yang (Friend) on: Apr 05, 2020

Mr. Scarlett was my grade 9 gym teacher when entering high school. He would always take the time to share a joke with me or a piece of quick banter... I think he enjoyed the back and forths as much as I did. I remember he would play basketball with a few of us, and every time I hit a shot on him, I made sure to let him know about it. In hindsight, he was clearly taking it easy on us, as he was an elite athlete and an even better person. Despite not being in contact with many people from high school at this point, I hope some of my schoolmates see this and are reminded of the great times we have with Mr. Scarlett. RIP. - Posted by: Teodor Stanescu (Former Student) on: Mar 29, 2020

I first met Mr. Scarlett when I came into high school at Sturgeon Creek Collegiate. He was both my phys-ed teacher and my football coach. He pushed me to be a better student, a better football player and above all to be a better person. There's not enough room on this to write all the things he did for me or to go into all the laughs we shared. If you were lucky enough to meet and get to know this man you are better because of it. He will be greatly missed. My family and myself send our condolences to his family. - Posted by: Kyle-Jon Muth (Friend) on: Mar 26, 2020

I knew Neville first as a student at John Taylor and later as a colleague at Sturgeon Creek. He had a larger-than-life personality that welcomed everyone and made everyone feel like a friend. I enjoyed a number of years where I saw Neville befriend and mentor innumerable students at Sturgeon Creek. He taught more through his personal interactions, humour and kindness than any of us could every hope to do. He was a wonderful man and will be truly missed. - Posted by: Brent Corrigan (Friend, colleague) on: Mar 24, 2020

I am so extremely sorry to have heard of Nevile's passing. We worked together at Sturgeon Creek Collegiate some years ago. Neville always had a fun sense of humor and a wonderful smile and was a warm human being. The year he played Santa Claus for the school dinner is a memory I revisit often as we had to pad his stomach. I offer my deepest condolences to his family and friends, he was much to young to have left this earth. God bless you Neville and thank you for the laughter, fun and kindness. - Posted by: Kathy Hawrysh (worked together) on: Mar 23, 2020
