ARDEEN SOKALSKI
(DANDY)

Mom was born on March 9, 1935, in Pierson, Manitoba. Mom passed away after a hard fight with cancer on March 12, 2020.
She was predeceased by her parents, Henry and Edna Dandy, husband Edward and her sister Glenna.
She leaves children, Derek (Janet), Monica (Scott) and Michael, grandchildren, Janna (Adam), Courtney (Matt), Rayna (Sheldon), Shawn, and Emma and great-grandchildren, Harper and Landon.
Mom was a farm girl at heart. She had many fond memories of life on the farm. Her face always lit up when she recalled stories of her days on the farm. She had a special bond with her father Henry.
In 1955, mom married Edward Sokalski. She gave birth to three children in the 60's, Derek, Monica and Michael. Dad was in the RCAF and mom and dad had frequent moves due to his job. They spent time in Winnipeg, Calgary and Trenton in early years and then settled again in Winnipeg in 1969. Mom had been a Charleswood resident since.
Mom was in charge of shuffling three children around to a variety of sporting events, while managing her teaching career. She would race home at lunch to feed us and then quickly back to school. Mom taught in what was the Assiniboine South School Division and spent time at Westgrove and Beaverlodge Schools.
In 1989, she took a leap and purchased Roblin Park Daycare. She was director / owner of the daycare for 30 years. Mom helped raise many children in her careers as an educator and daycare director. She was also involved with Roblin Park Community Club for a time as Ringette Coordinator.
Her passions in life also included the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, horse racing with her son Mike and curling. Mom especially loved to listen to the Bomber call-in show on CJOB.
There is to be no funeral. A private family ceremony will take place at a later date. Donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba.
