WILLIAM EARL MASKELL
July 9, 1952 - March 15, 2020

It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of Bill Maskell, at the age of 67 years, on March 15, 2020. Too young and too soon, his battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) was finished and he succumbed.
He was predeceased by his father, Bill Sr.; and mother, Pearl.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; daughters, Christa (Damon), Andrea (Dave); sons, Jason (Kate), Darryl (Chantelle); and beloved grandchildren, Kayla (Trent), Courtney, Haleigh, Sophia, Sabrina, Marcus and Emily. Also left to mourn his passing are his sister, Anne; niece, Alana (Jeff); and nephew, Gerrit (Alyn).
Bill attended St. Edwards School, and then on to St. Paul's High School. He grew up with an impish sense of humour and a quick wit. He was always generous with his time and his help to others. He loved to tease, especially those he liked, and those who would tease him back.
His happiest work years were at Varta Batteries, Winnipeg Forest Products, and his son Jason's fishing store, The Tackle Box. Bill's innovative and problem-solving skills were an asset to his work. He understood the mechanics of all the machines in the shop, set up effective work flows, and arranged good business strategies. His knowledge spread easily into fixing house issues and carpentry, such as building a rec room.
Bill's love of family had no bounds; loyalty, support and unlimited caring were always there. He would do anything for his children and wife, Carolyn. In these last few years of deteriorating health, his strength, acceptance and dignity were amazing. He never complained; he fought PSP until the end. He will forever be in our hearts.
Special thanks to the caring staff at Misericordia Respite for looking after Bill during his six week stay, and to the exceptional caregivers at Parkview Place, who kept Bill comfortable and pain free during his last days.
An interment and Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
Anyone wishing to make a donation in his name, can donate to the Firefighter's Burn Fund, or a charity of their choice.
