GERDA FAHR
(nee OTTO)

Peacefully in her sleep, Gerda passed away at Middlechurch Home.
She was predeceased by her husband Julius; son Thomas and grandson Johnathan. She is survived by her son Wolfgang (Patricia); grandson James and great-granddaughter Ava.
Gerda was born in Waren Muritz, Germany. She married Julius April 22, 1949. They immigrated to Winnipeg in 1951 and were welcomed by the Westphal family. In 1954 Gerda and her husband started a grain and poultry farm, which became a family business.
She was an excellent cook and family still marvels at the fabulous tortes she made. In her later years, she found mall walking, where she found wonderful new friends. She also managed a number of trips, even a river boat cruise in her 80s. But her true passion was bridge and crib, which she excelled at until ill health prevented her from participating in.
The family wishes to thank Middlechurch Home for her care.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Abundant Life Lutheran Church "piano fund" or a charity of one's choice.
A private family service and interment has been held.

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Dear Willie and Patricia and James, I just ran across the announcement that your precious mother has gone to join her husband, son and grandson. What a shock that so many of your family are gone. I cannot fathom the loss you have felt when you lost your, son, your father, your brother, and now your mother. We have many great memories of joining you at the farm through life's long journey. It was always a memorable experience. Louisa wanted to have you all join us at her pre-wedding party - but we could not manage to establish a connection at that point for some reason. We were sad. Now we are so sad for you for all the loss you have had and are thinking of you! Much love, Lynda, Louisa and Oliver - Posted by: Lynda Hiebert, Louisa and Oliver Ederhof (Friends ) on: May 04, 2020
