CLARENCE DENIS GOETZ
Clarence was born to Julianna and Edward Goetz in Overstoneville, near Vita, Manitoba on February 12, 1940. He grew up mostly in the Fort Garry area of Winnipeg, with many friends who remained friends for his lifetime. They reminisced about the young and old days, the pranks and all those years of adventures together. Some are gone but others remain to tell the stories of life in the 40s and 50s. Clarence was a lithographer by trade and worked through many changing times within the printing industry, first at Bulman Brothers and then at Komar Printing, retiring in 1990. He lived his adult life with Esther in Transcona, moving to 45 Kildonan Green Drive a few years ago. He enjoyed the friendships of the apartment complex and the puzzles and especially the neighbours on the third floor. More importantly, his pleasures were the Whiteshell, the family cabin, boating, fishing, golfing, entertaining friends and neighbours with his sharp wit and engaging smile. Clarence brought family, friends and neighbours together. They appreciated his willingness to help when help was needed. He was handsome, astute and fun-loving.
Clarence was predeceased by his parents; his sister Marlene and niece Sharon. In addition to his wife; he is survived by his brother-in-law Tom McDougall and partner Lilia; sister-in-law Lorraine Ward and many nieces and nephews and their children. In particular and much appreciated are Tom McDougall Jr. and Karen, Jim McDougall and Charlotte Johnson and many close friends who faithfully visited Clarence and helped to support Clarence and Esther during Clarence's lengthy illness. Thanks as well to the staff of Misericordia Interim Care for care and companionship to Clarence.
In respect of Clarence's wishes, he will be cremated and a private family Graveside Service will be held in Chapel Lawn Funeral Home and Cemetery, 4000 Portage Avenue, on April 17, 2020. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. For those who wish, donations may be made to a charity of their choice.
