EARL NELSON
1919 - 2020
During the Second World War, Earl repaired aircraft in Assiniboine, Saskatchewan. He was the head mechanic at the RCMP "D" Division for 35 years from 1947 to 1981. Earl was instrumental in developing the first "cage" system between the front and back seats of RCMP cars. Earl built his house in 1951 on Davidson Street where he lived for over 60 years with his wife Gladys and daughters, Linda, Janet and Kristine. Early years with family were spent camping and later, Earl built his cottage at Wallace Lake, which he enjoyed for years. Earl was a great woodworker and produced many artifacts for keepsakes, including a Viking Ship, Stagecoach, Red River Cart and Spinning Wheel to name a few. He was our mentor and go-to person, he will be sadly missed.
Dad is survived by his three girls, Linda (Ray), Janet (Shell) and Kris (Kit); six grandchildren, Vern, Tonya, Martinique, Matthew, Jessica and Evan, and 11 great-grandchildren. We know he is with Mom and she is saying "what took you so long?"
Cremation has taken place, and a private family gathering will be held in the summer.
The family would like to thank the staff at Golden West Centennial Lodge, particularly the staff on the 4th floor for the excellent care they gave our dad these past four years.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army.
Love you Dad.

Earl used to have a camper on the back of his truck and Kris and I would enjoy lying up top and waving to everyone we saw and of course Kris's parents would have to wave back, thinking people were waving at them, he was a lovely man, and Kris you were lucky to have him for so long, I am sure he's happy to be with your mom again. Love Colleen 😊 xoxo - Posted by: Colleen Molter (Neighbor and extra daughter for awhile) on: Apr 28, 2020
