Condolences & Memories (16 entries)

  • As a friend of the family, I spent many an hour in the McNamee home. Over the years, I enjoyed many a meal that Olga had prepared, and Olga (as everyone in Deer Lodge knew) was an incredible cook. I don't think anyone was ever allowed to leave the dining room table until absolutely and undeniably full (she made sure of that). Olga's baking was also legendary: I seem to remember sprawling out on the basement floor one time with Don and devouring an entire tin of butter tarts (sorry, Olga, but they were really good). Olga was a great lady who treated me and everyone she came to know with such genuine warmth and kindness. She will be missed by her family and friends and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Debbie and I offer our sincere condolences to Don, Gord, Pat, and their families. - Posted by: Gordon McLeod (Family Friend) on: May 02, 2021

  • Don, Gord, and Patty, I want to say how sorry I was to hear of your mother's passing. I remember her beautiful voice in the choir at Deer Lodge United Church and her amazing tan when she and your dad returned from their Caribbean trips. A specific, and fond, memory was the time that I came to pick up my mother from a bridal shower that your mom hosted on Linwood Street. Instead of calling my mother to the door, she invited me into the kitchen, handed me a plate and said to fill it up. What a wonderful hostess! It was nice to see the three of you and your families during the celebration of your mom's life. God blessed you with a wonderful mother and may He comfort you now and in the days ahead. • Please accept my sincerest sympathies on the passing of Mrs. McNamee. I met Mrs. McNamee and her husband, Keith, through my late husband, Bob Black, when we were members of St.James Presbyterian Church. She was such a kind and friendly person who always had a smile and good word for anyone. I enjoyed our occasional chats. Such a truly lovely person. - Posted by: Sue Black (Church friend) on: Apr 27, 2020

  • We wish we could take away the hurt and the sadness in your family's hearts. We wish we could calm their spirits and bring them some comfort... But most of all, we wish we had more than just these words to let you know how truly sorry we are and how much we will miss you. From all your friends in the Hydro-X Group RIP OLGA - Posted by: Hydro-X Group (Friends ) on: Apr 27, 2020

  • Olga was a dear friend of my mom and dad and they socialized together frequently. Olga would sometimes host our family for dinner, which I remember well. She was a lovely, kind person (as well as a great cook!). My condolences to Don, Gord and Pat. - Posted by: David Hatherly (Family friend) on: Apr 26, 2020

  • Olga, (Gene’s cousin) & Keith were Gene’s go to when he first came to Winnipeg from the farm and a weekend place to stay if he couldn’t afford a ride home. What a place to be! Olga & Keith treated Gene like their own son. When we got married, and Liz was introduced to them, it was a very comforting meeting and greeting by Olga and Keith! Olga was a very loving, generous, and extremely friendly and interesting person! A beautiful person! Our deepest condolences to Don, Gord, Patty and their families! May she Rest In Peace! - Posted by: Gene & Liz Happychuk (Gene was Olga’s cousin) on: Apr 25, 2020

  • Wesley and I had many great conversations with Olga and Keith. We knew them from Deer Lodge United Church, and as neighbourhood friends. They were great people. - Posted by: Virginia and Wesley Stevens (Friends) on: Apr 24, 2020

  • My deepest sympathy to Don, Gord, Pat and their families. My husband Phil and I enjoyed many happy times spent in the company of your parents. Your Mother was a very kind and giving person. When our son was ill she often phoned and engaged him in interesting conversation. She will be missed by her family and friends. - Posted by: Audrey Henshall (Friend) on: Apr 23, 2020

  • Our condolences to the McNamee family from the Campbells of Belvidere. As teens, it was always guaranteed before Christmas, Olga will have floor to ceiling cookie tins full of goodies stored in her back pantry. As friends of Patty's, we figured it was important to 'taste test' the occasionally product before it headed off to Deer Lodge church! Olga advised me in this past year when our mothers' friendship reacquainted at the Terrace, she was aware of our sampling, didn't mind and glad we enjoyed the time 'hanging out' at the Linwood house! My mother Marion, wishes to add how much she enjoyed Olga's friendship at the Terrace, making her feel so welcome as a 'newbie' when she moved in... along with her other dining table mates. She will be remembered fondly! - Posted by: Glen Campbell & Family (Family Friend) on: Apr 23, 2020

  • So sorry to hear of Olga's passing. I worked in a clerical capacity in the X-Ray Unit at Deer Lodge Hospital so many years ago. I remember Olga as a person who enjoyed her work and interacting with the patients with such kindness and compassion. She left a lasting impression with her warmth and good humour and love for her family. Please accept my sincere condolences to family and friends. - Posted by: Joan Patenaude (Former Co-worker) on: Apr 23, 2020

  • Aunt Olga and Uncle Keith were two individuals who showed a special connection to the experiences of life. They enjoyed the company of relatives and friends with open arms. Aunt Olga had the most beautiful large brown eyes and a broad smile. My deepest condolences to the family. Always in our hearts. Bev Nix (Monkman) - Posted by: Bev Nix (Neice) on: Apr 23, 2020

  • On behalf of the MONKMAN family and our mother, Olga's sister Anne; we all extend our condolences to Don, Gord, Pattie, and extended family, on the last member of the Kuliak family. The love Olga showed to everyone including those that stayed with your family on the way through or for a period of time, we send our blessings. She was so warm to everyone she met, and generous. Now she is with the rest of the family, particularly with her loving Keith, in Heaven. - Posted by: Brian Monkman (Nephew) on: Apr 23, 2020

  • Our deepest sympathy to the family in the passing of a dear mother, grandmother, mother in law and friend. Olga was a loving soul to many. There are many memories of trips out West or when Keith and Olga visited Cookstown. She was a caring person who served others throughout her life. She had strong faith. We enjoyed her Christmas letters full of family events. Blessings Rick and Nancy Monkman - Posted by: Rick and Nancy Monkman (Aunt) on: Apr 23, 2020

  • My deepest condolences to all. I always looked forward to seeing Aunt Olga and Uncle Keith albeit rarely due to geography as I always felt at home in their presence. Many blessings. - Posted by: Kathy Peterson (neice) on: Apr 23, 2020

  • Our deepest sympathies to Olga's family. Our Mom, Doreen Parr, and Olga were great friends for many years. In their younger years they shared with family and friends their monthly games of charades. And Mom and Olga sang in the choir at Deer Lodge United Church for many years. She was always there to offer friendship in our Mom's last years. Wonderful lady who will be missed by all her family. - Posted by: Anne Singbeil and Janet Young (Friends) on: Apr 23, 2020
