Condolences & Memories (8 entries)

  • My deepest condolences go out to Drs. Cholakis and Paulos, the star of the My Big Fat Greek Wedding sequel and the principal owner of Assiniboine Park - Steam Train located at 55 Pavilion Crescent, on the untimely passing of a legend. - Posted by: Philip (Not related) on: Jan 02, 2022

  • My family the Woodmans had a cottage at Sandy Hook for many many years. The Cholakis also had one. We spent many times on their boat, which I might add, was the only one on the lake. Paul was older than me and my sister Nancy at the time however, I know he an awesome person as all the boys were and respected in the Winnipeg community. My sincere sympathy to Leo and the rest of the family. I have nothing but wonderful memories of your whole family and the lake. - Posted by: judy davis nee woodman (friend) on: May 20, 2020

  • Such a nice man... his family and ours in the days of yore, spent time at Sandy Hook north of Winnipeg Beach. They had the big cottage on the water at 3rd. We would walk along it to access the public beach. My sister Tracy worked for Paul and under his tutorage she won the Canadian National FTD floral design championships to represent Canada in the Worlds championship held in Miami. He also introduced Tracy to her husband Herb and they remain happily married. Paul would also humor the Scottish community by attending the annual St. Andrews Society’s Robbie Burns dinner. Sincerest condolences to Cathy and family. I will always carry Paul’s memory. Truly a great one. - Posted by: Ian mac iver (Friend and admirer ) on: May 09, 2020

  • I knew Paul many, many, many years ago when I worked for his brother Leo when he ran politically . I have such fond memories of Paul, he always made sure we had lots of dates and figs to eat and other great food. He was so happy and gay and such a wonderful kind person. When he came in, which was everyday he was so happy and so caring. It was a great honour to have known him.
