RODNEY (RUSTY) RUSSELL RUUD
Rusty was the most amazing husband, father, and Grumpa that anyone could ask for.
Born in Roseau, Minnesota on March 24, 1959 to Lloyd and Joan Ruud of South Junction, MB. Rusty attended school in Sprague, MB where he enjoyed playing basketball, hockey, and baseball with his many friends. His real passion was motorcycles and cars (and he owned many cars). This passion drove him to attend Red River Community College for Automotive Repair. He was a master with a paint gun and spent over 30 years in the trade. When not at the shop, "Mr. R" could be found coaching baseball, watching ringette, or cleaning barn stalls, anything to support his girls. Finally in 2011, he had time to pursue his own passion and purchased his first Harley Davidson. He loved to be on his bike and enjoyed many trips with friends. Anyone who met Rusty never forgot him. He enjoyed life, meeting new people, and loved socializing (he usually knew at least one person wherever he went).
Rusty is survived by the love of his life, Kim; his beautiful daughters, Stephanie (Brent), Lauren (Kyle) and Megan (Patrick); his precious granddaughter Sloane; brothers, Robert (Naomi), Richard (Kim) and Ronald (Elwyn); sisters, Gloria (Alfred), Pam (Tim) and Wanda (Wayne); along with Kim's 12 brothers and sisters-in-law, and 24 nieces and nephews, who all loved Uncle Rusty dearly. He was predeceased by his parents, Lloyd and Joan; and his nephew Greg Halwachs.
Although his last three and one half years were extremely painful, he battled everyday through the pain with a smile. He continued to help others when he could. We would like you to remember him doing one of the many activities that made him happiest...riding his Harley, driving a sports car, cheering on his girls or his favourite sports team, or chasing his grandbaby Sloane as she crawled around our house. It was these simple pleasures in life that he enjoyed the most.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to CancerCare Manitoba in Rusty's honour.
A celebration of Rusty's life will be held at a later date.

Condolences to his family. Rusty and a few of us would play cribbage at work on our lunch brakes and we always had great laughs. He allowed me to bring a boy to his home that got his first ride on a horse. He was a wonderful person and always spoke of his wife and daughters. He will always have a wonderful memory in my heart. - Posted by: Shelley LaBonté (Friend at Murray Chevrolet ) on: May 11, 2022

Sadly, I am just now hearing of our dear Rusty passing. Having met him in the early ‘80’s w a group of friends. He was always quick with a smile and a laugh and was the life of the party. A man with a heart of gold. I left the area 30 years ago, but often recalled a fond memory. Rest In Peace. - Posted by: Darlene Garwood-Olson (Friend) on: Apr 27, 2022
