SUSAN JUDITH SMITH
1944 - 2020
Susan was born July 28, 1944 in St. Boniface, Manitoba. She was the second youngest of four siblings, Richard, Raymond and Janice (Donald).
She will be missed by her children, Cathy (Darrel), Joy (Neil), Lianne, Joe (Marta), Michelle (Jeff), Michael (Rebecca); and her 14 grandchildren. She is predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Margaret Riel; and husband, Richard Smith.
Susan worked at Pollard Banknote and Fineline Communications in which she earned several awards, which included the Mecca Award for Representative of the Year. Susan was forced into early retirement due to cancer, and in true form beat cancer, and although she suffered with many medical problems over the years, she was always more concerned for others and their well-being rather than herself.
Even though our mom spent her last years in a wheelchair, that did not stop her from doing what she loved best, attending family gatherings and spending time with her grandchildren. She looked forward to summers and time with "her boys'', as they were the light of her life. Although Mom will be missed by many family and friends, she will be especially missed by her sister, Janice, who never went a day without talking to her even though miles apart.
Our mother overcame many ailments with strength and determination in order to be with the people who mattered most to her. Constantly beating and defying the odds, she found strength through her wit and uncharted humour.
An everlasting bond forged between her and her family will forever exist.
Mom we love you "love you more".
A traditional burial has taken place, and a Celebration of Life will follow at a later date.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)
I have just found this, after finding an old notebook with an old phone number for her. I worked with Sue for many years and sometimes got together with her afterwards, though it's been many years. I have thought about her and wondered how she was doing, and where she was. She was indeed a very lovely person and I wish I'd stayed in touch more. I'm very sorry to hear of her passing and wish her family love and comfort. - Posted by: Charlene Zelanko (former co-worker, friend) on: Sep 05, 2020
