ALICE THELMA JOY WARREN

Our mom, Alice Warren, went home to be with her heavenly Father on Saturday, May 2, 2020, at the age of 92.
Alice is survived by her daughters, Linda (Kim) and Bev (Kenny); sons, Roy (Sherry) and Wayne; grandchildren, Brett, Brendan, Andrew, Eli, Reece, Alia and Kenny junior; nieces and nephews; as well as great-great-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Ken; parents, Fred and Kathleen Luining; and brothers, Russell, Bob and Cecil.
Mum was born in Winnipeg. She married Ken on December 3, 1949. She worked several jobs, retiring from the University of Manitoba, where she worked as a computer programmer (and loved it!). Mum was involved in a variety of committees and activities, including the Gull Lake Waterboard (another love!); the Native Orchid Society; Calvary Temple Seniors, and Red Rock Bible Camp.
A great joy for Mum was sitting in the morning sun with a coffee at her Gull Lake cottage, watching hummingbirds. She was positive the same one "talked" to her every year! Puttering in her yard at the lake was another passion.
This past year was not kind to Mum, but now her suffering is over.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the St. Boniface Hospital staff for the compassionate care shown to Mum.
A private graveside service will be held in Chapel Lawn Cemetery. Due to social distancing regulations, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Notice will follow.

Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • To Warren family. Sharing your sorrows on the passing of your dear Mother Alice. I worked with your Mom at the Computer Centre. She was a wonderful, happy and motherly lady. At one time she invited me and other ladies at the centre to her cottage at Gull Lake. She also shared with us her famous hazelnut torte. She will be missed. May she rest in peace. • So very sorry to hear of Alice’s passing. We worked in Computer Services at the University, many years ago, though it almost seems like yesterday. She always seemed like such a cheerful soul, I’m so pleased to have those pleasant memories of her. It would be great to turn back the clock, though it sounds like she had a rich and full life. Sincere condolences to family and friends. - Posted by: Ian & Bonnie Brown (U of M Co-workers) on: May 18, 2020

  • I am very sorry for your loss, I recently lost my mother also. Time seems to heal. I had the pleasure of meeting Alice years ago, enjoyed going to church with her one Sunday, also the fine conversations we shared. She truly was a gem. - Posted by: Daniel Wolfe (Friend of Bev and Ken) on: May 11, 2020

  • To the Warren Family: Please accept our deepest condolences. The entire Sukhan family fondly remembers Alice's family and the Luinings from Selkirk. The Sukhans enjoyed spending time at Gull Lake for several summers. Alice is at peace now. Take care of yourselves. Robin & Savitree Sukhan - Posted by: Robin Sukhan (Family Friend) on: May 09, 2020
