GALE EVELYN STOCKBURN
(nee WILLIAMSON)
January 9, 1949 - May 4, 2020

It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden, but peaceful passing of Gale Stockburn on May 4, 2020.
She is survived by her daughter Lisa Turriff, and son Cory Stockburn; as well as her beloved grandchildren, Zoe, Sophie, and Abby. She is also survived by her brothers, Brian (Louise) and Kelly (Corrine), numerous nieces and nephews, and a large extended family.
She is predeceased by her father Norman, and mother Lorna (nee Tapp).
Gale was born in Brandon, MB, and attended the Fleming and King George Schools prior to moving to Winnipeg. She finished her schooling at Sargent Park School and Daniel McIntyre Collegiate. Upon completing her education, she began her career as an EEG Technologist at Health Sciences Centre, which would span almost 42 years. She also served a term as president for both the Manitoba and Canadian Association of Electroneurophysiology Technologists. She retired in June of 2009.
Gale had many hobbies throughout her life including reading, sewing, curling, and most of all, spending time at the family cabin. She was also a past president of the Thistle Business Girls Curling Club, and in recent years she was on the board of directors of the Willow Park Housing Co-op, a position she greatly enjoyed. Gale was known as a kind, compassionate person, who was always willing to help someone in need. She loved to host big holiday dinners, and was well-known for her infectious laugh and 100 watt smile.
Cremation has taken place and a private interment will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date when conditions allow for larger gatherings.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada.

  • Please accept our condolences for your loss. - Posted by: WAYNE & GERI SLOBODIAN (NEIGHBOUR AND ALSO SERVE ON THE WILLOW PARK BOARD) on: May 10, 2020

  • I have had the pleasure of knowing Gale for many, many years as a friend, neighbour and for the past several years, as a board member in our co-op. Gale was a valued member of the board with her expertise and wisdom demonstrated often. She was never afraid to let her opinions be known and I will miss that for sure! My sincere condolences are sent to her family, friends and neighbours... we will miss her so much. RIP Gale. - Posted by: Elaine Stetina (Friend, neighbour) on: May 09, 2020

  • I have been a friend and neighbor of Gale's for over 30 years. I live in Willow Park and served on the board with Gale as well. I remember when I first moved in 30+ years ago Gale would come to Bella Vista and the West End Cultural Centre to listen to blues music. I found her to be a kind and caring person always willing to help out a neighbor. She will be missed. My condolences to the family. - Posted by: Catherine Keating (Friend and Neighbor ) on: May 09, 2020
