FLORENCE VAN CAEYZEELE
(nee LAGACE)
Flo will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Marcie (Winston), sons, Dan (Iris), Clyde, Wayne and Brent (Tara), foster son Norman, grandchildren, Vanessa, Marcel, Emilah and Hayden, and great-grandchildren, Nolan, Madeleine, Hunter, Marlowe and Thea. Flo was predeceased by her husband, Marcel, her parents, Irene Bernier and Joseph Lagace, her brothers, Lawrence, Emmanuel, Robert, Arthur, Henry, Andrew, Maurice, and sisters, Marie-Claire, Denise, Angela and Monique. She is survived by her brother Augustine, and sisters, Rachel and Margaret.
Flo was born on February 4, 1929 on the family farm in La Salle, Manitoba. She was the eighth of 15 children. At the age of 12, Flo's household chore was to bake bread for her entire family. In 1939 the family moved up north to Birch River. Flo was married to her husband, Marcel, on July 3, 1951. Flo led an interesting, complete and accomplished life. She was a "mother of all moms" and a mother to so many. She spent much of her life raising her children, being both a mother and father to them after her husband's unfortunate passing at the age of 36 and taking in numerous foster children. Flo had a special place in her heart for all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and she will be lovingly remembered by all of them. Recognition must also be given to our mom's contribution to and care of the many adults with mental health disabilities whom she housed and supported for many years. Flo was very generous especially to families in need. Her delicious homemade meals and exceptional baking will be missed by family and friends. In later years, Flo enjoyed her flowers and gardens at home and at her cottage. Our loss is great, but we find peace in knowing that Mom is now together with our dad in Heaven.
Mom will be laid to rest at the Assumption Cemetery. Due to present circumstances, a service in Mom's memory will be held in the fall at Gilbart Funeral Home in Selkirk.
Rest now Mom, we will love, honour
and miss you forever and for always.
Condolences may be left on her tribute wall at www.gilbartfuneralhome.com

Aunty Florence was the most loving, kindest and strict aunt. When I was a kid, my mom and dad would let me go there for summer holidays. Playing with my cousin Marsha, Aunty would keep all us kids from mischief. She made the best meals. Aunty Florence was my mom Denise’s sister. We lost touch thru the years, but she came to visit her sister in the nursing home. Rest In Peace Aunty. My sympathies to the family. My deepest sympathy to all of your families following the loss of Auntie Flo. We didn’t visit often and have lost touch over the years but I still do remember visiting Auntie Flo and Uncle Marcel and my cousins with my Mom and Dad(Esther and Val Van Caeyzeele). Auntie Flo was always a warm person, as was the whole family. I guess that’s where they got it from.
