ELSA MARGARET (DOLLY) FELBEL
(nee BOHN)
On July 23, 1932, in a garden on the farm in a community near Beinfait, Saskatchewan, Elsa was born to Adolph and Bertha (Bauch) Bohn. She was the 14th child to her parents. Upon the death of her mother the day after her birth, Elsa was taken in and raised by foster parents, Wilhelm and Bertha Weidner.
At the age of three years old, with the Weidner family, she moved to Moosehorn, Manitoba where she grew up and attended school. She worked at the Moosehorn Hotel as a chamber maid/cook and was housekeeper for the Cuthbert family until marrying the love of her life Fred and moving to the city in 1952.
When her two younger children were well into school, she started working for Ludwick Catering and retired after approximately 20 years with them. Elsa enjoyed spending her time going to the theatre, quilting, knitting baby outfits, sewing and being very involved in the life of Faith Lutheran Church, which she was a member of for over 50 years.
She is survived by her children, Doreen (Norm), Darren (Mona), Deanna (Doug) and Denise; grandchildren, Amanda, Tracy (Carlin), Adam (Juline), Rachel, Ivan and Isabel; sister Nata; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Bohn, Irene Weidner and Florence Felbel; brother-in-law Emil (Sophie) Felbel; and many nieces and nephews.
Elsa was predeceased by her loving husband of 67 years, Frederick (Fred) Felbel; her parents and foster parents; 12 siblings and 11 foster siblings; many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-laws; and grandchildren, Emily and Samuel.
Thank you to Dr. Cameron Lowden, Dr. Don Houston, nurse Frances and all the other Palliative Care nurses and staff for all your remarkable care and support. Mom so appreciated what you have done for her.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date when circumstances allow.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Elsa may be made to the Faith Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 1311 Dakota Street, Winnipeg, MB R2N 1V8.

I was a childhood friend of Doreen and I spent a lot of time at their house on Hull Ave. I knew Elsa as Margaret but I liked calling her Mom. She was a lovely lady and I really liked her. She made a Ann and Andy doll for my daughter just after she as born, that is now some 44 years ago. My condolences to the family, she was a very nice person and I'm sure that she is missed terribly. I would like to send condolences for Fred a well. He too was a very kind hearted and likable person. I didn't know him as much, but when I did see him he was always very soft spoken and kind to me. I am sorry that your family has to go through the passing of both your parents so close together. It is good though that you all have each other to lean on. I lost contact with Doreen and would like to make contact with her. - Posted by: BERNICE RAJOTTE (CHILDHOOD FRIEND OF DOREEN ) on: Nov 16, 2020
