GERRY (GERMAIN) TROTTIER
November 29, 1948 May 8, 2020
Gerry was predeceased by his mother Venice Beaudin; father Robert Trottier; stepmother Anne-Marie Trottier; brother Ron Trottier; nephew Craig Trottier; good friend Telly Mercury and father-in-law Frank Shiffman. Gerry was a dynamic man with many friendships including many aunts, uncles, cousins and business associates. Once friends with Gerry, you were friends for life. He truly enjoyed reuniting recently with some of his cousins and childhood friend, Len.
Gerry worked hard his entire life and never settled for staying idle. He retired at the age of 49 from his position of Manager of Finance and Administration for Winnipeg Transit and after 25 years with the city of Winnipeg. At this time, he continued to pursue his true passion of building homes with his company Southwynn Homes Ltd. which he founded in 1984. He was also passionate about a new business he had just purchased and was getting off the ground. Gerry could light up a room with his genuine smile, crazy handsome good looks, quick wit, infectious laugh and captivating personality. If you were lucky enough to know him, you knew he started work in the early hours of the morning and stopped late into the night. Gerry took genuine interest in everyone he met and was quick to help anyone who needed it. When Gerry took pause in his busy schedule, he and Lesli enjoyed many adventures travelling together and with "The Gang." They also loved spending summers at their cabin at Leaside beach, and the amazing memories made there. He prioritized his family and loved spending as much time with his grandchildren as he could, being their biggest cheerleader at all of their respective sports and made sure to always have the loudest whistle so they knew he was there. He loved having them visit at the lake and their sleepovers.
Gerry lived life right and to the fullest and taught us all so many important lessons, the biggest of which being to always see the good in people no matter what the circumstance; to work hard and with integrity; to make mistakes but learn from them; and to grow and to be kind, always.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Sarah and the three nurses who found him and tried to help as well as to the members of the WFPS and the WPS. We would also like to extend our gratitude to Dr. Shawarski-Krawchenko and the entire resus team at St. Boniface Hospital Emergency room for their tireless efforts and for being with him in his final moments.
Cremation has already taken place. To properly honour Gerry, a Celebration of Life will take place when we can all get together and do it right.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Canadian Blood Services Winnipeg Center, MB Heart and Stroke Foundation, Cancer Care MB, Main Street Project or any cause meaningful to you.
