SHIZUKO (SUE) NAKAMOTO

Shizuko (Sue) Nakamoto, 91, passed away suddenly and peacefully, on May 10, 2020.

Sue was born in Yokohama, Japan, on December 12, 1928. On April 8, 1953, she married Sam Nakamoto. They moved to Winnipeg, Canada, in 1956, sponsored by the Kuwada family, with support by the Shimizu family. She worked for several clothing manufacturers and retailers, and at Eaton's Alterations Department, for many years, where she became a supervisor, until her retirement. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, knitting, handicrafts, watching television, and yardwork. She was a proud and longtime Soka Gakkai Buddhist member.
A private interment will take place shortly.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre in Winnipeg.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • I practiced Buddhism with Sue and Joan for many years. I'll always remember Sue's lovely smile and light heart. - Posted by: bob grafton (fellow SGI practitioner) on: May 16, 2020

  • Sue was an active and valued member of our SGI Buddhist community for decades. I spoke to her only a matter of days before her passing and her voice and demeanour were as youthful as ever, even at 91. She always spoke of her children with great pride. Sue would be seen frequently by friends at Polo Park Centre, walking in her neighborhood or on the bus. She was always active and energetic. I will continue to remember Sue in my daily prayers knowing we are eternally connected. - Posted by: Maxine Stewart (Fellow practitioner) on: May 16, 2020
