CAROLINE SYLVIA STARKEWSKI
(nee WIONZEK)
January 23, 1939 - May 15, 2020

Peacefully with family by her side, Caroline passed away at Park Manor Personal Care Home. It just so happens Caroline passed away on the 12th year anniversary of her husband's, Ernie, passing to the day.
In addition to her husband's passing, she had been predeceased by her parents, Stella and Stanley; sisters, Florence and Sylvia; and son-in-law Ron.
She leaves to mourn Kim (Grant), Connie (Ron), and Paul (Evi). Also grandchildren, Jacqueline (Tyler), Kristen (Tyler), Amanda, Sebastian (Sarah), Darwin, Columbia, Indya and Hadrian; and great-grandchildren, Bowie, Wyatt and Oakley. Also left to mourn are sisters, Ollie and Delores (Lawrence) and brother Edward (Connie), along with many cousins, nieces and nephews and friends.
Caroline was born in Canora, SK. The oldest of six children, she grew up in Winnipeg at 505 Osborne. Mom and Dad were neighbours and eventually started courting, which included double dating with lifelong friends, Elsie and Bob, to Sadie Hawkins Dances. On June 29, 1957, Mom and Dad married. They lived and raised their family on Talbot Avenue and Berens Street. When Dad passed they had been married almost 51 years. They loved to travel and had been to such places as Hong Kong, Japan, Zambia, England, Alaska, Branson, Italy and many trips across Canada. Her three greatest passions in life were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she was very proud of, sewing and BINGO.
Mom resided at Park Manor Personal Care Home since 2008 where she provided interesting times for the staff. She developed a sense of humour that entertained them also. Mom enjoyed her outings with the Stroke Recovery Association, Park Manor and family; and enjoyed her sessions with physiotherapist Jeanette. We would like to thank the staff for their care and kindness, understanding and patience they provided to Mom; and giving her comfort and dignity during her last days.
Interment to be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Stroke Recovery Association of Manitoba, 247 Provencher Ave., Winnipeg or Park Manor Care, 301 Redonda Street, Winnipeg.

  • My sincere condolences for the loss of your Mother, Grandma, Aunty. Caroline was quite the chatter box. We often shared the bus to go to Sam were she entertained us with her jokes and infectious laugh. Caroline loved to paint and put her heart into all she made. It brought great smiles to her face when she wore her lipstick looking hot to exercise, Caroline said you never know when that certain man might show up, then a giggle. With just kidding. All she needed was a hug to make her day which we always exchanged. Caroline talked highly of her children & grandchildren. My friend Caroline will be forever missed. Rest in peace my friend. Hugs & prayers to the family during this difficult time. - Posted by: Shawn (Friend) on: May 24, 2020

  • To Caroline's family, I am soooo sorry for your loss. My deepest condolences each and everyone of you. I am a former employee of Park Manor and the times we had with Caroline, especially when she was on the second floor. Us girls would gather in her room sharing stories with her and her sharing stories with us. We would put on her ghetto blaster, and put her cd in and blast the song "SWEET CAROLINE"!! And sweet she was. I am sure glad walls can't talk because some of the stuff we talked about, oh boy!! Caroline always had a shoulder for us if we needed it. CAROLINE YOU ARE FREE NOW, "WALKING" IN HEAVEN WITH YOUR ERNIE. RIP ❤️ - Posted by: Robin Denis (Former HCA at Park Manor/ friend) on: May 23, 2020
