GEORGE WILLIAM LEITOLD
August 4, 1933 - May 13, 2020
Survived by his two sons, Brent (Gimli, Manitoba) and Darcy (British Columbia), his 10 brothers and sisters that live across Canada, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and in-laws. Predeceased by his wife Bernice (nee Mack), and his sister Mary (nee Leitold) Jackson.
George was born in Montreal, Quebec. He was one of 12 children of parents, Gertrude (nee Koch) and Andrew Leitold. Growing up George loved sports and actively participated in many during his lifetime. George also coached his younger brothers in minor league baseball and hockey, as well as his son Brent. He was an avid fan of the Winnipeg Jets, Blue Bombers and the Goldeyes. George and Bernice were annual season ticket holders to the Goldeyes.
George was a dedicated and loving husband and father. He was also passionate about his career as a travelling confectionary salesman. George was a kind, caring and gentle soul. He touched the lives of many and to this day has several wonderful and devoted friends whom the family would like to thank for all of their love and support. George was also an animal lover and had a few dogs as pets that he cherished and called family.
A private family memorial service will be held in the future.
A special thanks to the Calvary Place Care Home staff during this difficult time.
Donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
May your body be free from pain

I Just wanted to say that my memories of George were of a wonderful man who had a ready smile and was self deprecating. He obviously loved his family dearly and was proud of his sons and devoted to his loving wife. Life always threw curve balls, but he didn't ever seem deterred. Surely he will be sorely missed. - Posted by: Margie King (related to Ron Leitold) on: May 28, 2020
