AGNES SONNICHSEN
She is survived by her loving husband Carl, of 58 years. They lived in Headingley their entire marriage. She will be dearly missed by her children, Elfriede, Sharon (Don) and Ron (Kathy).
Mom was predeceased by her parents, Bernard and Aganetha Bergen, brother Gerhard, half-sister Marichen Hesse, son-in-law Keith Parsons, and grandson Chad Dunn of Victoria, BC.
She was born in Lichtenau, Ukraine in the Molotschna Mennonite Colony, September 11, 1926. A survivor of the Stalinist purges and the Second World War, she lived in Germany before immigrating to Canada in 1948 with her mother, younger brother Johnny and daughter Elfriede. She worked as a seamstress for Stahl and Sons until the early 1960s. Mom was a proud homemaker. After their retirement, Mom and Dad were world travellers going to Europe, Australia, Fiji, Mexico, Cuba, Alaska and their favourite, Hawaii. Mom had a strong faith in the Lord Jesus and is with her Lord now.
The family wishes to thank all her caregivers at Southern Health, Grace, Seven Oaks and Portage District General Hospitals.
A graveside service and interment will be held at Holy Trinity Anglican Cemetery on Friday, June 5, 2020, at 10:00 a.m.
Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorial donations may be made to the Mennonite Central Committee.

Many fond memories of Sunny Harbor and your Boler camper. Agnes and Carl were just the most lovely couple. Praying for comfort in your sorrow. - Posted by: Lena Kublick (family friends growing up) on: Jun 04, 2020

My condolences to the family. I remember her sending dinner over to our house when my Mom was in BC attending to her mom. I also remember as I delivered papers to her house a surprise gift she gave me one year. Peace be with her loved ones at this time. - Posted by: Joy Sonnichsen (Neice) on: Jun 04, 2020

My sincere condolences to Carl, Sharon, Ron and the family. Our families used to attend the same church and get together when I was little. I have good memories of times spent together either at our house or at yours. - Posted by: Carolyn (Born) Friesen (family friends) on: Jun 03, 2020

Our sincere condolences go out to Carl and family. Agnes will be missed. We had many conversations during the years we lived across the street as newly weds. Blessings. The Toews Family - Posted by: Diedrich and Helen Toews (Former Headingley Neighbour) on: Jun 03, 2020
