JOHN PEILUCK
March 28, 1939 - June 6, 2020

Peacefully on Saturday, June 6, 2020, John passed away at the age of 81, at Holy Family Nursing Home.
He is survived by his loving wife, Ann (Pawlychyn), of 56 years. Their anniversary was on June 6. John is also survived by his loving daughter, Joanie, and son-in-law, Rob Smalley, and his precious granddaughter, Ashley.
He is also survived by his sister, Mary Coppin of Regina; sisters-in-law, May Peiluck of Gimli, Mary Ptashynski of Winnipeg, Donna Seredycz of Winnipeg, Kathy (Ross) Kidd of Saskatoon and Irene Pawlychyn of Aerola, SK. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his son, David (1999); his parents, Peter and Rosalia Peiluck; in-laws, Michael and Kay Pawlychyn of Chatfield, MB; brothers, Joseph and Tony Peiluck of Gimli; brothers-in-law, Wayne Coppin of Regina, Nick Ptashynski of Chatfield, Alex Pawlychyn of Wanless, MB and John Pawlychyn of Winnipeg; sister-in-law, Janet Pawlychyn of Winnipeg; and nephew, Ron Chudy of Fisher Branch, MB.
John grew up in the RM of Gimli on the family farm, and moved to Winnipeg to work with CN Telecommunications. He then went on to work for the City of Winnipeg, where he spent most of his years with the Assessment Dept. He retired in 1993, and enjoyed his retirement to the fullest.
John and Ann married in 1964, and David was born in 1965, and Joanie in 1966. John and Ann settled in Transcona in 1966, and raised their family there. Family activities were filled with weekend visits to the family farms in Gimli and Chatfield. John enjoyed helping family with grain farming, showing David and Joanie how to fish on the Gimli dock, and taking them for snowmobile rides in the winter. He was always there to volunteer to coach a hockey team or baseball team when needed, and Dad could often be seen in his suit coming to watch his kid's games in the school gymnasium after work. He took our family on an amazing trip to Vancouver, camping and experiencing many attractions along the way.
John enjoyed many activities, including curling and baseball (played with his friends on the Winnipeg Mets team), four-wheeling with family and friends, as well as hunting. John and Ann also enjoyed many years camping with family and friends, and their trailer was the place to go to for your morning coffee. The last few years of camping were spent at Autumnwood RV Resort in Gimli, where friends and family were always welcome at their trailer.
It was heartbreaking losing their son, David, at the age of 33 due to heart failure in 1999. John, Ann, Joanie and Rob relied on the enduring support of family and friends during this difficult time.
In 2002, the miracle birth of their granddaughter, Ashley, lifted their spirits in the most amazing way. Baba and Gido always volunteered to babysit. Spending their time with Ashley was always a pleasure, including rides in the wheelbarrel around the garden when Ashley was young, to taking her out for lunch or ice-cream, to cheering her on at her hockey games, and supporting her with her school endeavours.
John was a member of St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Transcona for over 50 years. He was a member of the Brotherhood and Knights of Columbus Bishop Budka Council #6886 (4th Degree member - Canon Luhovy Assembly). He also enjoyed helping with the perogy making group at St. Michael's.
Our heartfelt thanks to all the wonderful caregivers at Holy Family Nursing Home for their dedication and compassionate care for John, a resident of the St. Anne's Unit. A special thank you to Sister Ruth for being there for our family from beginning to end, and also Father Alan Wizinsky for his compassionate visits with John in the hospital and at Holy Family. Special thank you also to all family and friends for all their acts of kindness and support to our family, and visits to see John at the hospital and at Holy Family. God Bless you all.
A private family prayer service was held, and a memorial service will take place at a later date.

Rest in Peace
