MR. PURAN SINGH KALER
August 30, 1915 - June 16, 2020
He was born in Amargarh Kaler, Punjab, India to Chand Kaur and Kishan Singh. He grew up in a family of four brothers and two sisters.
He spent his youth working on the family farm with his younger brother, Joginder Singh. He immigrated to Canada in February 1982.
He was a devout Sikh and he prayed dutifully. Satnam Waheguru were words that he spoke in every breath, including his last.
His entire family immigrated to Canada, but his heart remained in Amargarh Kaler, Punjab. He enjoyed visiting his home as often as he could.
He lived an active life, enjoying long walks and riding his bike. He spent his time as a caring, kind and loving soul to his family.
He was known for always having candy in his pocket for his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and children in the neighbourhood. His grandchildren share many fond memories, including taking long walks with him to get candy from the grocery store and walking to and from school hand in hand.
He will be dearly missed.
He is predeceased by his wife Niranjan Kaur Kaler; his sisters, Gurdeep Kaur Gill (Teja Singh Gill) and Chint Kaur Dhaliwal (Karnial Singh Dhaliwal); and his brother Pritam Singh Kaler (Muktiar Kaur Kaler).
He is survived by his two brothers, Nahar Singh Kaler (late Gurdial Kaur Kaler) and Joginder Singh Kaler; sister-in-law Nasib Kaur Kaler; seven children and their spouses, Amarjit Kaur Kaila (Sukhdarshan Singh Kaila), Balwinder Kaur Bassi (Sukhwinder Singh Bassi), Jagdev Singh Kaler (Partap Kaur Kaler), Baldev Singh Kaler (Manjit Kaur Kaler), Baljinder Kaur Sidhu (Jaswinder Singh Sidhu), Charanjit Kaur Khosa (Raminder Singh Khosa) and Sukhminder Singh Kaler (Mandeep Kaur Kaler); nephews, Ranjit Singh Kaler (Parmjit Kaur Kaler) and Harjit Singh Kaler (Baljinder Kaur Kaler); eighteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
