HARRY KRUGER
October 30, 1941 - June 15, 2020
It is with great sadness, that we announce the passing of Harry Kruger after a brief battle with cancer.
He was predeceased by his parents, Alexander and Hilda and is survived by his wife Heidi; daughter Corinna; brother Wally and sister Carol.
Harry was born in Lubinek, Poland. He then moved with his parents to Germany for three years and then they immigrated to Canada on June 18, 1951, when he was nine years old. They settled in Winnipeg, Manitoba where he spent the rest of his life. He followed in his father's footsteps, specializing in masonry. At the beginning, he worked with his father at many jobs. He also helped building his parent's house and later he built his own home together with his wife. Harry got married to Heidi on May 10, 1963, and they had their only daughter on April 18, 1964. Throughout his life, he especially enjoyed playing hockey and soccer. In Manitoba, he played junior hockey for St.
Boniface Canadians and later for the Riverton Lions together with Reggie Leach. Harry also played hockey in Ravensburg, Germany for a number of years, where he was captain of his team. Later, he took two players from Riverton (Alex Cumberland and Alan Benedictson) along to Ravensburg to play on his team there.
In later years, when he was no longer able to play hockey or soccer, his favourite hobby had been gardening. He planted flowers, vegetables and fruit trees and loved to watch them grow. In the summers, he also enjoyed going to the forest to pick mushrooms and blueberries. It had been his paradise.
Through the years, he had made many good friends and won many admirers through his sports and work. He will be dearly missed by all.
Thank you to all of the health professionals, staff of the Grace Hospital and the home care staff for the quality care they provided.

My deepest condolences to Heidi, Corinna, Wally and Carol for your loss. Harry was a loving and giving man and will be missed by many. I fondly remember spending many summers working side by side with Harry as we set up and took down the Alpine Pavillion for Folklorama. Harry was always there to help us out and spent long hours along side us every day even after working hard at his own job all day long. He always had a big smile on his face, never once complaining about helping out. Ruhe in frieden Harry, you will be missed. Roy Hartfiel - Posted by: Roy Hartfiel (Friend) on: Jun 23, 2020
