GARTH GORING
1939 2020
He was predeceased by his wife, Ann. He leaves behind to cherish his memory three daughters, Tracy (Eric), Carla (Henry) and Dawn (Ken). He also will be missed by his grandchildren, Eric Jr. Ashlee (Andrew), Christian, Robert (Manon), Sydney and Alex; along with his two great-grandchildren, Brady and Emmy. He also leaves behind his brothers, Dennis (Linda), and Glenn (Gloria); brother-in-law Tom; sister-in-law Linda (Wayne); and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dad was a kind and giving soul who always had the tools handy and words of advice for anyone needing help with a project. He enjoyed seeing the neighbourhood children grow up and loved going for breakfast with his good friend Wayne. Dad enjoyed supporting his grandkids by attending their sporting events, dramas and concerts. He was always willing to help his family in any way he could. He always said he hated being in a crowd but he could always find a person to talk to at the many coffee shops he frequented, often finding connections to others in his life.
Dad's career as an industrial mechanic took him to many businesses, ending his career with Norampac in 2000. His vast knowledge of carpentry, mechanics, plumbing and electrical will be missed by all whom he helped. In recent years he enjoyed stained glass, moving on to wood turning and often gave away his pens to people he met. He recently took up whittling but was unable to develop that talent before his passing.
The family would like to express our gratitude to Grace Hospice for treating him with dignity, respect and compassion in his last days.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life and interment will take place in Chapel Lawn Funeral Home by invitation only, due to the Covid restrictions.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in dad's name to Grace Hospital Foundation, 300 Booth Drive, Winnipeg, MB R3J 3M7,

I am very sorry to hear of Garth’s passing. I have known him for many years. He was one of my customers and brought stuff to be sharpened. I got to know him well and always enjoyed a good chat with him. He loved doing crafts and making pens and we often talked about some of that. He was also involved with the Franklin Craft Club and brought their stuff to be sharpened. I will miss our chats that we have had over the years. We were sorry to hear about your dad’s passing this morning, Karla. He was a kind and interesting man. We remember him clearly in his house out there in Charleswood. He and Larry sat and chatted for hours after picking up some shelving for the school while I went for a bike ride. Our condolences Karla. - Posted by: Doreen and Larry slashinsky (Friend of daughter and son in law) on: Jun 20, 2020
