ALICE AMELIA SAMSON
Alice is survived by her daughter Cheryl (Gord), her son Tommy (Deb), her grandchildren, Jeff and Cassandra, great-grandchildren, Ashley, Ken and Scott, and great-great-grandchildren, Audrina, Ryker, Olivia, Kashden, Aleksander and Amelia. Alice was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Ken in 2010. She will be always remembered by her grandchildren as ''Candy Nan'' as she always had something sweet to share.
Alice was born in Maple Creek, SK on February 7, 1927, and grew up in Hatton, SK. At the age of 16, she moved to Medicine Hat, AB where, after a matchmaking effort by her future father-in-law, she married Ken in 1946. Alice and Ken moved around Canada with his job at CP Rail, eventually settling in Winnipeg, MB. Following Ken's retirement, they enjoyed many international adventures together, most notably the two years spent in Egypt and the six months in Indonesia. Alice had many fond memories of summers spent with the Good Sam RV Club and at Millers Campground, sharing laughs over a gin and tonic with their many friends.
She was an excellent cook who loved to host parties with family and friends and always had a special extra sweet dessert. Alice took pride in her close family after not having one herself growing up. She was known for her twinkling blue eyes, her sweet laughter and her love of a trip to the casino.
The family expresses sincere appreciation for the kindness of the staff at Heritage Lodge Personal Care Home for making her feel special during her entire stay and especially with the restrictions of these last few months.
A family service will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue.

First met Alice in 1966 as I went to school with her son Tommy. Always gracious and smiling. It was an honour to meet her and Ken, so many fond memories of the nicest people you could know. Ray - Posted by: Ray Giest (friend) on: Jun 22, 2021
