SHEILA (JEN) WESTWOOD
October 30, 1922 - June 22, 2020
Sheila was born at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg to Harold Melvin and Ethel Yeats (Waring), but her parents divorced when she was quite young, and she came to know Syd Robertson as her true father figure. She endured her young life through the great depression and graduated from Gordon Bell High School.
The early war years were very emotionally trying as she lost two fiancés, but ended well as she married W.H. (Bill) Westwood on May 22, 1944. They had six children. Before raising those children full time, Mom enjoyed her work at the city of Winnipeg.
Mom's closest relative/friend/confidant in the world was her cousin Maureen. Her happiest times were with Maureen and the Thom family. She also had a special bond with her granddaughter Tara and Maureen's daughter Kathleen (sorry Rick).
Mom and Dad supported community charity; Mom being in the Order of the Royal Purple for more than 60 years, culminating in her being elected the Supreme Honoured Royal Lady of Canada in 1976.
Sheila was predeceased by husband Bill, son Terry and cousin Maureen. She is survived and will be celebrated by Terry's widow Arlene (Chuck); grandchildren, Troy (Janet), Trevor (Janet), Tara (Andy), Ann Gagro (Tom); daughter Trysh Froese (Johan), grandchildren, David (Linda) and Shaun; son Tim (Paulette), grandchildren, Andrew (Sam) and Ian (Katherine); son Trent (Cheryl); grandchild Brendan (Fan); son Trevor (Brenda); grandchildren, Leesa, Maiya and Peter; son Todd (Nina); grandchildren, Robert and Amanda. Special cousins, Bob Thom, Rick Thom (Wendy), Kelly Thom (Dana), Keith Thom (Margaret), Kathleen Christianson (Galen), Jim Westwood (Sherry), and Marjorie Grower (Ken).
We would like to acknowledge and thank the wonderful staff at Golden Links Lodge, who provided such great care and affection for mom. The nurses, support staff and administration all were wonderful to mom and to us.

A lady who is cherished and remembered with love and fondness. She was the one who kept us in line when we were together at family gatherings. Not only we as family but all those whose lives she touched through Royal Purple across Canada will treasure her memory! Love Rick and Wendy - Posted by: Rick Thom (Nephew) on: Jun 27, 2020

My condolences to the whole Westwood family. Sheila was a very special and unique person. I will always remember the Saturday’s we spent together talking as I set her hair. I loved the stories of her past, as a young women and then of her life as a mother and wife. We shared many recipes. She taught me how to make a really good matrimonial slice, always add lemon she would tell me! I always admired the good work the Royal Purple did! Sheila was proud to tell me about the children they helped. We always talked about our families and we loved to share details of special holidays and events. She really looked forward to seeing all her kids, grandkids and their friends. It was neat to see her excitement about going to Bomber games to support Troy. She was one of the oldest fans I know to actually go to games. Of course she always had to have her thermos of special hot beverage along for the game! Lol. We laughed together, we cried together, we grew old together! She stayed a client of mine through my three pregnancies and the rest of my career. She was a friend and a client and I will always remember the impact she made on my life! She will be missed but never forgotten! Davolyn - Posted by: Davolyn (Hairstylist and friend) on: Jun 27, 2020
