LOUIS JOHANNESSON
August 1, 1957 - June 28, 2020
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Debbie, son Devon, daughter Misty (Ryan), first grandson Zander, "adoptive daughter" Lorlen, and grandpuppies, Charlie and Emma; siblings, Beverly (Jack), Lorne (Joanne), Joe (Michelle), Kelly (Mike); his extended family George and Doreen Howell, Kevin (Anaise), Glenn (Karen), Curtis (Carrie), numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and close friends.
Louis was born August 1, 1957 to Johnny and Beatrice Johannesson. Growing up, he was often found at Johnsons' -- piling lumber, working the fields, or hanging out in the shop with Norman, Roy, Sigmar and Valdi. Otherwise, he'd be out and about adventuring with his many siblings, cousins and friends.
Louis always said he was a jack of all trades, master of some. Over the course of his life, he became a skilled heavy equipment operator, carpenter, part-time mechanic and electrician. In his youth, Louis found joy in carpentry and tinkering with engines of all sizes. Later came the heavy equipment: first for Ericksons, then many years for Hecla Parks and later still in Fort McMurray. He then caught the pipeline bug and spent years working his way across the prairies. He never liked plumbing, but never had to with his good buddy Elert on speed dial!
Like any good "jack", Louis wasn't all work and no play. He loved living out a simple, understated homelife with his family in Manitoba. Home, for him, was a sanctuary to be shared with loved ones - a place for cozy Friday night campfires, DIY projects with the kids, and coffee and home-cooked food with family and friends.
Louis loved animals and the great outdoors. In memory of Louis, please consider donating to the Gimli Humane Society - Box 1999, Gimli, MB R0C 1B0.
In keeping with his wishes, a private, invitation only service will occur at a later date. We will remember Louis together but must give each other space. Those attending are asked to please abide by social distancing guidelines.
See you later Daddio! Love you!
Condolences may be left on his tribute wall at www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
