DORIS EHMANN

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Doris Ehmann, at her home, on July 8, 2020, at the age of 62. She was predeceased by her father Otto in 2013 and mother Herta in 2011.
Doris was born in Winnipeg. Although she was an only child she did have a multitude of first cousins who were like her siblings. Doris was the linkage between the Foss and Ehmann families. Family was an important part of Doris' life and she will be sadly missed by both family and friends.
Doris was a very hard working, devoted person. Her career included working at the Smitty's Restaurant and then at Canada Post for 32 years until her retirement last year.
Her hobbies included "shopping" where she was always on the lookout as part of her weekend activities. She enjoyed family camping vacations and travels to Europe, the U.S., Barbados, Jamaica, Mexico, Cuba and throughout Canada
Doris had a strong faith and was an active member of the St. John's Lutheran Church all her life where she was instrumental in the services, committees and council that supported the church.
She leaves us with a legacy of memories for each and every one of us. We love you and will miss you deeply but know that you will never be forgotten. Say Hi to your Mom and Dad for us.
Funeral and Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 24, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St., West St. Paul, MB. Only 50 guests will be able to enter the chapel so we are reserving this to immediate family and some close friends at this time by invite. The service will be shortened to 30 minutes inside the chapel and will continue outside by the gravesite for the remainder of the service and interment where up to 100 people are allowed provided all are socially distanced. Please wear a mask during the proceedings. Hopefully, this will allow more guests to be able to attend the service, weather permitting.
The service will be live streamed for those that cannot attend. The link is:

Condolences & Memories (11 entries)

  • Doris was my Manager at Canada Post for almost eleven years. Even though I was in Ottawa she was always available for me no matter what it was. She was so thoughtful and caring. She made my retirement so special she came to Ottawa and made sure everything was perfect for me right up until waving goodbye while I drove away for the last time. Doris will be in my heart and memories forever. RIP xoxo - Posted by: Dianne Belanger (Co-worker & Friend) on: Jul 21, 2020

  • To all of Doris’ family and friends. I was so very saddened to hear of Doris’ passing. I saw Doris about one year ago. She had just retired a day or two before. I thought she looked great and I could not believe she had really retired. I worked with Doris for many years in Regional Finance, in Sales and in HO Finance when the VP was located in Winnipeg. Wherever her expertise was needed Doris always gave 150% and went way above and beyond. Doris was very kind and beautiful person and had a great sense of humour and I loved her laugh. There was just something cute about her laugh. She was a wonderful person to work with. I shall remember the really “crazy busy” times and the fun times, of which there were many, but most of all I will remember you Doris - one of the most hard working and dedicated people I’ve ever known at CPC or anywhere else and a warm and kind friend and colleague. God bless your beautiful soul Doris. May you Rest In Peace with your parents who have gone before you. Always and forever my friend ... • I knew Doris through Canada Post. She was smart, kind and caring. She always made you feel welcome and important. Rest In Peace my dear. - Posted by: Cathie (Co worker) on: Jul 20, 2020

  • I worked with Doris for many, many years. Although she was in Winnipeg and I was in Ottawa, we became quite close. She fiercely protected her team, worked very hard (and many times late into the night), and was committed to integrity in all she did. Although we mostly were on the same page, we didn't always agree - funny story, a coworker across the aisle from me once commented, "I always know when you are talking to 'Doris' - it's the only time I ever hear you raise your voice!" However, she was always up for a good debate and understood that our disagreements never undermined our mutual respect, caring, and support. I treasure the times she came to Ottawa; we would meet for dinner at a restaurant (or in my home) and talk for hours. I'm glad she had a chance to travel and enjoy some of the finer things in life after she retired - but I truly missed her regular "presence" at work. I'm not sure if I will make her service on Friday (I have major surgery the day before) but I will try! Love you Doris! - Posted by: Diana (Co-worker & Friend) on: Jul 20, 2020

  • I had the pleasure of knowing Doris through her cousins Ron, Tom and Fred Ehmann. She was a loving and compassionate woman who cared deeply about her family and friends. I will always have great memories of our conversations at the family gatherings I was privileged to be able to attend. • Prayers to all of Doris’s friends and family at this sad time. I have thought of my friendship with Doris and Mary while at Red River College (75-77) many times through the years. Always brings a smile to my face and a story to my heart. Sorry Doris I never got to tell you in person what an important part you played in my journey of life! - Posted by: Mona Daniel (Friend from Years past) on: Jul 18, 2020

  • Doris and I had so much fun while I did her hair. We loved chatting about our life as kids and funny things our parents did. Probably one of the most kind and caring people I’ve met. She loved her family and friends deeply. She would do anything for them and it showed through her stories of her family events. BeautIful person inside and out. I was blessed with seeing her and helping her look and feel her best just before she passed away! Condolences to her friends and family. She will be missed and I will always remember her. - Posted by: Gwen Voroney (Friend and her hairstylist ) on: Jul 18, 2020
