RUSSELL GRANT JONES
A LIFE WELL LIVED

In his 99th year, Russell Grant Jones passed away July 13, 2020, at Golden Links Lodge, with family by his side.
A man of integrity, high ethical and moral standards, and a great love of family. And golf - definitely a love of golf! A true gentleman in every sense, as evidenced by his dignity and kind demeanour. He had a wonderful wit. When his son-in-law told him "Russell, you are probably the nicest man I have ever known", his reply was, "what do you mean "probably"??"
Russell was born to Mary Pearl and Jack Jones, April 20, 1922 in Rosetown, Saskatchewan.
He was predeceased by his loving wife of 64 years, Mildred; parents; four siblings; and stepfather, Harry Wilson.
Dad's family moved to LaRiviere, where he spent his younger years helping in his dad's general store. The family moved to Winnipeg, where he attended Daniel MacIntyre Collegiate. Dad was the Valedictorian and recipient of the Governor General's Medal. He pursued an accounting education at night school, while working in the mail room at Workers' Compensation Board. He retired in 1980 as Chairperson of that Board.
Dad's life is celebrated, memories and stories lovingly recalled by his daughter Carol "Lassie" Guest (Gary); son Grant Jones (Shannon); grandchildren, Ryan Guest (Amy), Cory Guest (Sarah Russell), Brin Jones; and great-grandchildren, Tylar, Cooper and Zachary Guest.

Grandchildren's Memories:

Grandpa led by example, not just words. He made furniture with secret compartments for family. Many pieces with his RGJ logo are still being used. At the Victoria Beach cottage, Grandpa blew up countless air mattresses and dinghies with his own air so we could ride the waves and catch a few fish. He cleared stones to make a path in the water every day so we could get to the soft sandy areas - just as he cleared our life paths. His energy must have come from his infamous Red River Cereal!
Never a true "swear" was heard, but when we heard "dang" or "geez", we ran for the hills. Ball caps at mealtimes were strictly forbidden, all we needed was "the look".

Thank you for your legacy Grandpa.

We will cherish memories of evenings and holidays with friends and family around the piano/guitar as Mom or Grant played, and Dad sang with tenor gusto.
Dad's golf swing was a joy to behold and the envy of many. He enjoyed countless rounds at the St. Boniface club, scores often matching his age when he was in his 80s.
Thank you to friends and family for your love and support. Dad was loved, respected, and shown great compassion by the staff at Golden Links Lodge. He held the title of "Best Dressed" for his jaunty sports jackets.

We hope you are feeling more than
"fair to middlin' " now, Dad.
Keep your head down and hit 'em long
and straight. You are in our hearts,
in our thoughts, and in our lives always.

A private family interment will be held at a later date.
